11 October 2008

At my job, I've witnessed assaults, psycho explosions, really dumb protests, crazy people of all descriptions. Today we had a some of my co-workers foiling a theft attempt, some nut throwing rejected books at my boss, a small child running around the store snapping a bullwhip, and a toddler drinking afrom a cup of coffee. I recounted this to a bartender and it got me a free shot of Jack daniels. Also, a week ago I ordered two t-shirts online, a Funkadelic one and an Anthrax one. Today, I arrived home to find a package. Enclosed was a Funkadelic t-shirt and a Miami Vice t-shirt. I'd love to hear the explanation for that. Luckily, pips is visting her moma and will be bearing stuff from this place. *gibbers*
I'd love a Miami Vice t-shirt. Especially if it was designed to mimic the white linen jacket with a pastel t-shirt underneath. Can you find a picture of the one you got?

Now I want a chili dog.

It just has a logo on it. The Antrax t-shirt was really cool too. and I like Anthrax more than I like Miami Vice. Also, the chili at the Merritt Canteen will make your butt hair stand up, just to warn you.

Girls don't have butt hair. At least none that I'd ever admit to.

So. Will they send you the real t-shirt?

I don't know. I'll call them tommorrow when I'm sober.

Girls don't have butt hair.

which is among the many reasons I like them.

Eight words in I knew this was posted by jonmc.

I have GOT to go to New York one day just to see jonmc at his worksite.

bunny, a couple of hours there just might send you screaming in terror.

I want to see the Funkadelic shirt. And if it's cool, you have to tell me where you got it.

Here's a link to both, dude.

This is the Anthrax shirt I ordered but didn't get.

You know it really should of been an Ah-Ha t-shirt, instead of Miami Vice.

You forget-I have survived many, many nights working third shift as a Waffle House waitress.

I bet YOU never had to clean someone else's puke off a jukebox during the bar rush.

I bought a 7x9 print (11x14 matted) of this image today at an arts fest in our neighborhood:

I cannot WAIT to get it framed. (It looks a lot cooler in real life than it does in this small JPEG.)

Ooh, I just saw the t-shirt link, jon.. that ROCKS. Yes, want.

If that Waffle House is on the skirts of Atlanta, i've been there.
And met many a rockstar. They always stop the bus at Waffle House.

ethylene, there's a Waffle House at every single highway exit around this part of Georgia. Sometimes two, one on each side of the highway.

But the artists told me this pic was actually of a Waffle House in Gainesville, Florida.

Yes, i know. We've hit every one of them leaving some concert or party.
The big truck stop one was where we hung out with Soundgarden.
posted by ethylene 11 October | 22:18
Okay, i can't say for sure we went to every single one, but we never hit the same one twice and we went to a lot of concerts and parties.

Awesome print, BoPo! Waffle House rocks! (Though the last time I dined there I suffered epic gastrointestinal distress -- scattered, smothered, covered, and chunked is just too much. Especially with double crispy bacon. But elizard had her first pecan waffle, so a memory was made.)

Boo gastro distress, but yay pecan waffles!

Metachat's own Ardiril used to own a home within walking distance of the site of the world's first Waffle House. It's gone now, but they built the 1000th Waffle House on the same spot, and he and I used to visit it a lot. It's humbling to be so near a piece of history like that.

I started watching Miami Vice on Hulu the other day (I was a little too young and/or snooty the first time around), and I pretty much liked it until Edward James Olmos came along. Which was, what, five episodes into the first season? What a letdown.

I'm going to eat my leftover chili cheese dog with onions for breakfast. Pray for me.

Just thinking about that right now is giving me heartburn.
But it doesn't stop me from wanting one.
posted by ethylene 12 October | 06:41
Motherfucker, that's one hot chili dog... I don't know how Jon makes it through two chili cheeseburgers and chili cheese fries. My nose and eyes are running.

Sweet, sweet pain.

(I am my father's daughter.)

I like that I get to concoct in my own head what the footage of events at the bookstore looks like. It's like radio, but reading.
