MetaChat has "finances" ? Cool. I had no idea. How? How much? From whence? Should I even ask? Or should I not tamper with delicate innerMeChaworkings?

Should we all be chipping in toward webhosting and such?

Has there been a fundraiser yet? I volunteer to emcee it, at least in the absence of Jerry Lewis.

Does that make us Jerry's kids?

There was a fundraiser in October 2006 - you can read a lot of particulars about hosting costs and whatnot here. Plus taz did a fun thing and cortex did a fun thing (what ever happened with that?), which added to the pot a little more to buy some more radio time. How much does hosting cost? Well if you ask cortex, it's twenty bucks, same as in town. The fundraising goal was reached within several hours of seanyboy posting about it, which was so cool.

The figures in Oct 2006 (as related by seanyboy) were:

Monthly Hosting
$25.00 - Web Hosting at rimuHosting.com (It's more, but that's the
difference between what I was paying and what I am paying now)
$12.50 - Radio Hosting.
$19.38 - Loudcity internet radio Licence.

This works out at $56.88 a month or $682.56 for the next year.

I'm not sure what the fees and costs are now, a year and half later.

Well, he doesn't wear them only for fun, anyway.

Radio hosting currently costs $32.50 per month, according to seanyboy (no idea what country's dollars that is, though), so at least one cost has increased significantly in 18 or so months.

Oh, that $32.50 was for hosting and licence. So the cost has increased slightly, not significantly.

I might be wrong, but my understanding is that seanyboy's $32.50 figure includes both the hosting and the license.

box - thanks for the heads-up! But I passed guild leadership (which had been passed on to me without my knowledge) on to Mike and I don't want it back. I'm in a great guild on another server and don't have time for another one.
