01 March 2006

They say it's your birthday... But how will we know for posterity if you don't tell us? Head over to the Wikipage linked above and let us know!

Plus, if you let us know what year you were born, you just might, MIGHT, receive a special surprise. Wink wink nudge nudge.
Also, if there's anyone that's better at wiki formatting than I, please feel free to make it look all purty and stuff. Thanks.

Got it, but passed already.

Done wolfdaddy...It's a great idea.

On preview...leave the year off taz?
posted by richat 01 March | 10:28
On, upon reloading the wiki page, Woohoo May Mechazens!
posted by richat 01 March | 10:29
Yeah, it was a little unnerving to put that year on there. But my new years resolution was to stop lying about my age so, what the hell, this is a good place to start.
posted by mygothlaundry 01 March | 10:29
Dude, it would be like so totally awesome if the front page could send birthday shoutouts to people. I added the request to the to do list.
posted by mike9322 01 March | 10:31
Holy crap, it's THREE weeks! I must be losing it.
posted by mike9322 01 March | 10:32
You know, I'm happy to see the years on there. I've long suspected that MetaChat and MeFi had a large representation of, um, mature users. So far my suspicions are borne out. But it's one of the things I like best about it, anyway; I wouldn't be hanging out on sites dominated by, say, the 20-24-year-old demographic.

It's good that there's also a range, though; mono-generational environments can get too static. So I won't worry too much about how I was in 5th grade when Sciurus was born, for instance.
posted by Miko 01 March | 10:35
I've always gotten along with an older crowd, so I don't feel exceptionally young.
posted by sciurus 01 March | 10:54
For some reason I had it in my head that tr33hggr was like 22 years old. Who knew? ;-)
posted by mygothlaundry 01 March | 10:55
It's not even a big difference.
posted by Miko 01 March | 10:56
Go Scorpio contingent!

Do of my 1969 buddies always have to think for a moment when asked their birth year, especially on the phone?

Hmm, do I say '1969' as plainly as possible, or do I go with 'sitty-nine'?
posted by danostuporstar 01 March | 11:07
I was nervous to post my birth year for that very reason. So I took it down.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 01 March | 11:07
We're all just glad that you were born to grace us with your smile, TPS.
posted by sciurus 01 March | 11:12
Awwwwwwwwww preeeeeeeeeeecious.

posted by muddgirl 01 March | 11:32
Happy birthday, muddgirl!
posted by Hugh Janus 01 March | 11:32
Thanks mgl! Hopefully that's because of my youthful looks and libido, and not because of my juveline personality!
posted by tr33hggr 01 March | 11:33
Just remember folks, if you don't put your year your SPECIAL SURPRISE won't be as ... special. And muddgirl, since you're first up, bear with me, it may take a couple of days :-) Stay tuned!

Also, wise words: once you're out of high school or college, EVERYONE is the same age.

Also, wiser words: once you turn 36 (and depending where you live) can ravish the body of someone half your age ... LEGALLY!
posted by WolfDaddy 01 March | 11:35
Many happy returns of the day, muddgirl!

terrapin - Feb 160, 1966

Well, they always say that February is the longest month...
posted by Specklet 01 March | 11:36
Ditto, sciurus - I mostly hang out with people older than me in real life too.

Happy birthday, muddgirl. Dang, I was hoping to be first.

flopsy - 13 December 198-

Oh, don't let us old folks make you self-conscious about yer age, honey!
posted by Specklet 01 March | 11:38
But April is the cruellest.
posted by tr33hggr 01 March | 11:38
That's so funny... thanks to flopsy I noticed we have all been redundant. Why did everyone retype the month when everyone is already listed under the specific month? (^_^)
posted by MightyNez 01 March | 11:50
I consider not being dead yet my biggest birthday surprise.
posted by tommasz 01 March | 11:54
I had my year in there, but since my real name is prominently attached to my username, I was worried about people being able to guess my luggage combination and stuff, so I changed it to my Chinese zodiac year.
posted by goatdog 01 March | 11:58
mygothlaundry, your age is SEX-AY!

And I was in 11th grade when cmonkey was born, but am I letting that stop me?
posted by matildaben 01 March | 12:07
I am exactly one year minus one day older than wolfdaddy.
posted by JanetLand 01 March | 12:11
For the younger ones, and the older ones, take a moment and think of us, the neglected middle children. No one cares that we are smack dab in the middle. We aren't noteworthy at all. So bugger off and put your flippin' birth year up and quit yer whining!

/wonders if anyone know he's a middle child in real life too...
posted by richat 01 March | 12:18
rainbaby: I think I edited the page at the same time as you, and messed up your birthday!

posted by Eideteker 01 March | 12:24
It's true, mygothlaundry, that is a totally hot age.
posted by cmonkey 01 March | 12:31
No mosch, I got paranoid, and I lie anyway, so I changed it.
posted by rainbaby 01 March | 12:34
You all look younger than you are. Every last one of you.
posted by goatdog 01 March | 12:36
Heh, I got hit on at the bar last night by a guy who was maybe 24. :-) I was waiting for my daughter to join me for a beer and I was kind of hoping she'd show up right then and say "Hi, Mom." so that he would, like, fall over and freak out, but he was gone by the time she got there.

Oh no, TPS -- I am absolutely glad there is an age range here -- I'm just saying a solely 20-24-dominated message board might not be as interesting.

*struggles to remove foot from mouth*

Dano: I have that thought every single time I say the birth year. Sixty-nine. Yep! That's what they called it.

And, way to go MGL.
posted by Miko 01 March | 13:38
I'm older than Specklet! I didn't know that.

And Frisbeegirl, I thought you were younger than me! : )

It is interesting to see the age range here. I think I'm right in the middle. : )

Miko, miko, miko... I'm an August Leo, too. But I'm still not putting my birth date. I'm in total denial.

Scorps and Sags are currently tied for first!
posted by sciurus 01 March | 14:36
You are clearly a cusper. Us hard core Scorps would never speak of such things. I give you to the Sags. Do with him what you will.
posted by rainbaby 01 March | 14:39
I love you even though you are old.

Benefit to being old: I've already forgotten what I said! Here, have a prune, friend.
posted by Miko 01 March | 14:40
Heh. Just realized I'm the same zodiac sign as Hugh Janus. Weird.
posted by Hugh Janus 01 March | 14:47
Mmmmm, prunes.

Meanwhile, I'm a cusper too (Taurus and Aries)! Yahoo.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 01 March | 14:47
So now it's the Libras and Virgos that need to represent.

By the way, I love how this wiki keeps getting more and more useful and interesting.
posted by Miko 01 March | 14:54
I am the first day of Aries, which also makes me the first day of the Zodiac (and the vernal equinox too, most years). I have no idea what that means.
posted by mike9322 01 March | 15:03
*fronts for all the Virgos*

*beats her chest in a manly manner---* OUCH.

Yay for Scorpios!

I was in fifth grade when KyleG and flopsy were born. How scary is that?

Not as scary as watching some of the contestants on American Idol and realizing I am technically old enough to be their mother. Gah!
posted by sisterhavana 01 March | 15:48
* Roars for all her fellow Leos.

TrishaLynn - if you're going to keep beating your chest, maybe you should invest in a Turtle?
posted by porpoise 01 March | 16:07
mike, it means you are the true infant of the group...you are just starting out on this whole consciousness thing. I would say you are doing pretty well for such a youngin'.
