Revision as of 21:37, 22 February 2006

This is the place for things on the site that need to be fixed, features that need to be added, etc. Please don't be upset if your request is rejected.

A quick note from dodgygeezer: It may look to the untrained eye that none of these things are getting sorted out. I'm currently working hard on all of these things and more. Watch this space and keep 'em coming.

This is minor, and a feature request, but can we make it so when you go to your own profile, you see what it looks like to other users?

Also, I miss being able to find out what I drunkenly said the night before by clicking on a "my comments"-type thingy. --interrobang

May we have the <pre> tag enabled?

Metachat Radio Page CSS Display in Firefox 1.5

Please get rid of the black horizontal lines in Firefox 1.5 on the Radio page.

Radio status on front page

Would it be possible to show whether the radio is broadcasting or not (and who is broadcasting) on the front page under the Radio Mecha link, so the users don't have to click over to that page just to check status?

Should be do-able. I'll look into it - Dodgy

Archive bug

When clicking on the archive page (e.g., http://metachat.org/index.php/2005/11/) the following error comes up around November 7's entry:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4 bytes) in /web/metachat/blogs/skins/zombie/_feedback.php on line 321

Pretty up page after posting

The page that comes up after posting doesn't have a title (currently shows in the tab title as http://metachat.org/skins/light/edit_actions.php), and I'd like to suggest it just redirect back to a refreshed front page with the new post showing instead of

You may also want to generate static pages or view your blogs...

Show/Hide Images could bring you back to the thread you were viewing

instead of back to the mainpage. That would be nifty.

Fix duplicate listing of matildaben's name on the IRC list

Add link to AbeBooks

Can the person who entered this request please clarify specifically what you want it to do? Do you want just a sidebar link, or something fancy where it auto-links when someone posts a book title or something like that?

Bring "my comments" back

I miss it so very much :( --Cmonkey 21:19, 17 January 2006 (EST)

I miss it, too. love, shmeg.

I think this is back now, eh? --Matildaben 23:02, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

Admin/site specific section

Things move so fast around here that I sometimes wish there were a separate page dedicated just to site announcements. For instance, a place to explain the move to sinless, or a new feature. I hesitate to use it as an example, because callouts are the farthest thing from my mind, but a kind of MetaTalk for MetaChat.

See the Current events page for this kind of announcement. --Matildaben 12:01, 26 January 2006 (EST)

(x new) comments doodad

I may be mistaken, but I am pretty sure we used to have this. As I am old and my memory is failing, I find it hard to remember the number of comments in every thread and have to check to see if there are any new comments all the time, to be sure I don't miss a single golden word.

Mecha recipes

We've had so many recipe threads, we could just copy and paste em right into the wiki, and folks could add their own.

This is exactly the sort of thing the wiki exists for, however there's already a blog for this. If the good folk of Metachat want to move it here then it'll be very welcome! - Dodgy

That would be cool with me, I'm kind of lazy about updating the blog. (But I generally add anyone who emails me and wants to be a blog contributor within a day or so, so they can add their own stuff) --kellydamnit

Let's keep it how it is and if you ever get bored of maintaining it then it can be moved over here. Until then you're doing a great job. Thanks. - Dodgy

Spell check returns asp error

Sorry but that's run by an external website so I can't fix it. Do not fear, I'm sure they'll fix it soon enough. In the meantime, if you use Firefox, try Spellbound as an alternative.

Straight Post Button

Since so many of the comments here are so short and pithy, I wonder if it would be possible to have a button that bypasses preview?

I'm not keen on this idea. Once page loads are faster then this'll be less of an issue anyway. --Dodgygeezer 11:59, 27 January 2006 (EST)
