Insomnia Cure, Psychotic Break, or Goofiness? A few nights ago, I was dreaming, and when I woke up several times during the night, I thought to myself "I'm not sleeping as me, I'm sleeping as a member of the Minnesota Vikings." I was able to quickly get back to sleep, and even slept in different positions. So I've been picking a person at random to Sleep As the past few nights. If I wake up and start worrying about a grocery list, for example, I can tell myself to relax. Barbara Streissand in Yentel does not need groceries, and that's who I'm sleeping as tonight. Harmless sleep aid? Or, as I haven't been the happiest of campers lately, beginnings of a reality break? Or just goofy?

Ever rediscover old music you're not entirely sure you're proud of? In this case the album in question is 'Peep Show' by Siousxsie and The Banshees. Listening to it some fifteen-plus years after I first enjoyed it (possibly due to a spin on 120 Minutes?) Faced with insights on my character of old, I dug out some pictures of my orange perm and played amateur archaeologist. Ever rediscover something you thought you'd forgotten? Finds you well I saw on our MeCha AudScrob charts that someone else listened to Dabenport last week. Maybe two someones, if I didn't (it didn't show up on my chart).
They're an absolutely fantastic local band, and one that I think a lot of people here would like. Somewhere between shoegaze and country, with beautiful harmonies. This is one of their slower songs, and one that for me always tied to missing someone in an airport. Something about the sterility and the distance really balances well against this track...

People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people. I've just got back from a fantastic bonfire night. Fireworks, flames, toffee and baked potatoes. 400 years on, read about Guy Fawkes, then watch (again) the trailer for V for vendetta. Finally, listen to this song by Attilla the Stockbroker.

Babies Go Wild for Robert Plant I was playing music for my 16 month old little boy tonight. After he was done and got down, he started dancing and bouncing to the music. Which was sweet enough.

But when Led Zeppelin's Misty Mountain Hop came on, he came up to me and gave me a kiss for the first time ever. Just a peck on the neck and went back to shaking his tiny little groove thing.

Just too sweet not to share.

I noticed Friendster now has this functionality, too. All you have to do is paste the url and it prints headlines to your user page. MeCha coding dream In RL I did a lot of reading other people's code yesterday. Last night I dreamed I was working on this piece of code and in the comments, one of the people who had edited it, back in 2001, was Specklet. Then I saw her on IRC and said "hey, I found some of your old code!" It was kind of cool.
AskMeCha: My boss doesn't know my name... So, I work part time as a law clerk at a firm while I'm in school. One of the guys-with-his-name-on-the-letterhead, a man in his 70s, has begun regularly addressing me by the wrong name. I don't care about that, but my question is: What's more polite, ignoring the error, or finding a way to subtly clue him in? And if it's the latter, how?
