Oh well. A short life and a merry one →[More:] We lost our kitty today. She wasn't eating much and was lethargic over the weekend, so we took her in to the vet today.
We found out several things: First, she was much older than the shelter told us when we adopted her
five years ago; in fact, the vet described her as "very geriatric" and well into her teens. We also found out she had partial paralysis in her rear legs (although she was still walking), hyperthyroidism, and a blockage of her intestine that was was probably cancer.
After much discussion with the vet and some soul searching the decision was made to ease her suffering. It's one of the hardest decisions a pet owner can make. I was able to hold her, so I know she died purring.
Rest in Peace, Ania.
