The Twelve Days of Christmas.... in cross-stitch So here's my latest cross-stitch project. It took me ten months to make it. [More:]I got it to go with the set of Christmas decorations I'm collecting on a Twelve Days of Christmas theme — I'm going to put together a photoset of them sometime in the near future.

This is my third large-scale cross-stitch project that I've finished in the past four years. I'm thinking it's going to be my last cross-stitch project for some time as they are simply too much of a time hog and I should be focusing on more important things. I do intend to enjoy looking at the three I have, though.
Gorgeous! I keep saying I need to finish my in progress wolves cross-stitch (I think I set it aside once I got kitty cat which was 2005) but there never seems to be enough time with everything else going on.

I think there is really something extraordinary about the focus and patience/perseverance that it takes to keep yourself working on a project of that scale, over that length of time. You should be very proud of yourself, Orange Swan. You made something beautiful!

That is pretty awesome. Tons of work and it looks like complex little tricks to get outlines and shading. I bet it was exciting getting closer and closer to finished.

WRT to the song itself, I'm always drawn to the "four calling birds" because that's the solo line I had in elementary choir. It was tough because not only do you have to do it a bunch (the 11 lords a-leapin' kid got off so easy!) but everyone does the "five golden rings" part and then there was a pause and just me... So now for the rest of my life I think of those four calling birds as somehow mine when this carol comes up.

So what I'm saying is, good work, and good job on the four calling birds especially.

Oh, that is exquisite.

As a Manchester United fan, though, this song is forever in my mind as "The Twelve Days of Cantona". It wouldn't be Christmas without it.

i can't imagine taking MONTHS. holy cow.
