To do! To do! Whatcha gonna do? Up and at 'em! What's on your chore list?
[More:]

I have a ton to do to get my house ready for special visitor in a few weeks. I think there will be lots of throwing things away involved...

Here's my list. Keep me motivated! I'll do the same for you. RAH RAH!

1) clean kitchen. Always on the list.
2) Clean bathroom
3) Clean office--specifically, clear off the desk, clean off the couch, put away things that belong away.
4) Bedroom: wash sheets, dust under bed and elsewhere, clear off dressers, make room in the closet
5) Change batteries in smoke detectors and change clocks. (I decided I wouldn't change the clocks until I changed the batteries)
6) Throw away all the clutter that I can.

OK, I'm a little overwhelmed by all that, but I can do it! I CAN! I WILL! (Eek!)

What's on your list?
1. Buy ALL the light bulbs. Several light fixtures need new bulbs. All CFLs or fluorescents. My bathroom is missing one fluorescent, so it's just dim enough to annoy. The same for my living room, we're down to mellow TV watching brightness. But no reading or doing intricate work.

2. Install the new router. I've had it for a month, but my old router started working again. For no apparent reason. But I spent $150 on a high speed dual-band router and damn it I'm going to use it.

3. Clean the bird cages. We only have one bird but she has two homes. One is her sleeping cage. The other is part of a permanent cage/play area in the living room. Scooby is the one percenter of birdies.

4. Argue with the wife about playing Skyrim instead of going outside.

5. Go outside.

I work Saturdays and my in-laws are visiting for our weekend (which is Sunday and Monday.) I got most of my chores done before they arrived. Mr. Ant is on the Disabled List with ferocious headcold with bronchitis, so get to play Suzie Homemaker for this visit.

I've done just about everything on my list already today.

1. Laundry - done!

2. Running group - done! I really enjoyed the run today, through the forest. The weather's been gorgeous today - clear and sunny, not too cold but not hot either.

3. Buy brownie ingredients - done! (I've boasted far too many times at work that I bake the best brownies ever, and couldn't carry on bragging without actually making them.)

4. Tidied bedroom - done!

Is Scooby all better now, splunge? I remember she was ill a few months ago.

Tomorrow the list is:

1. Another run - this time with a friend, just a short 3 or 4km.

2. Meet another friend at Westfield City for a browse.

3. Bake brownies for the office on Monday.

I've folded laundry, have the dishwasher running right now, and put things back where they belong from yesterday's quarterly cleaning, but of course, the list never ends.

1. do homework for Wicca class that's due tonight
2. practice doumbek drills before drum class this afternoon
3. practice zills
4. study Czech
5. meditate
6. make pumpkin cheesecake bars for work
7. do reading for IB for this week

Although I'm really thinking about taking a nap here for a bit because I didn't get home until after 1 this morning and was up at 8.

Done:
1. Lowe's run
2. Grocery shopping
3. Library pickup
4. Quick JCPenny trip

To do:
5. Finish weatherproofing the doors
6. Unload & reload dishwasher
7. Laundry
8. Do outside stuff (put up outside air vent covers, finish putting up garden fence to keep a certain girl pup out of the flower bed, maybe rake, etc)
9. Move winter stuff (shovel, sidewalk ice stuff, etc) & holiday boxes into the house
10. Look through the gazillion non-fiction books due in the next couple weeks to figure out which ones I want to read and which are going back unread.
11. Finish making my door wreath

So much for International Sloth Day (as noted by the Pittsburgh Aviary according to a friend). I should clean but no one will be coming to the house this week and I need to do massive cleaning next weekend for a friend's visit, so it's being ignored for now. Back to it I go.

1. Stage 2 of an exegetical creative project on the pericope of the last judgement in Matthew (sheep, goats, etc)
2. Sermon on 1 Corinthians 6.
3. Paper on the music at several different churches that I've attended in the last few weeks
4. a confirmation lesson on the women (ruth, esther, jael, deborah, woman how helps david kill a rebel, etc) of the Hebrew Scriptures
5. develop an alternative liturgical service about giving.
6. translate a nice size section of John from the greek.
7. clean out the fridge
8. party

I have a feeling all of this is not going to get done today.

Kitchen mostly done! Am waiting for some dishes to soak and the ones in the dishwasher to finish. As a reward I'm going to make some french onion soup for lunch before continuing with the rest.

1. Get laundry together, which Jon will take to the laundromat Monday, bless his heart
2. Dishes, and more dishes (didn't I make that Cheeseburger Hamburger Helper two weeks ago?)
3. Already cleaned the toilet, which was gas-station gross (we really need a new seat)
4. Bed's also made and nap ready (naps are important)
5. Michigan game at twelve -- Go Blue!
6. Call mom (I'm not visiting this weekend; I feel guilty, but I'm exhausted, physically and emotionally, and need a break desperately; I'll see her next week; sometimes you have to be a little selfish in this life)
7. Grade papers, endless fuckin' papers
8. Attendance and lesson plans for next week; it's a short week, though, with Thanksgiving, so, Yay!
9. DonorsChoose proposals, if I can finally get around to it; I can't keep shelling out for books myself, and there's a donation matching program between Dec. 5th and 12th, and I don't want to miss out
10. Quiz for AP students Monday
11. Supper -- some ziti with meat sauce (I'm hungry just thinking about it; we've been living on frozen dinners and take-out)
12. Calculate budget, see if we're ahead or behind for the month, pay a few bills
13. Dare I include writing on this list? Seems evermore the pipedream.

Woke up this morning with a start- AHHH, forgot to do my homework for marketing class!! So I did that. Then I realized, AHH, forgot to call Con-Edison to do our gas meter reading. So I did that (and it ended up taking forever and ended with them making an appointment to come read it themselves, because apparently there's some sort of historical discrepancy). Apparently I don't have a list, I'm just going to run around like a chicken without a head.

It is freaking cold and I am tired and lethargic, but I have to make myself whip out this paper today, no choice in the matter. Already at a late start.
I've gone from super anxiety ridden advanced preparation to overconfident careless slackerdom in a single semester. And yet, so far, it isn't negatively affecting my grades. Kind of like how I went from eating super healthy with vegetables and no starch to eating total crap and it hasn't caused me to balloon up or really affected my health. WTF.
I'm thinking of doing a sex lecture in addition to my psychedelic medicine/drug lecture. It's kind of like doing stand up for a captive audience. I wonder if there is a career move here. Also, my closest prof has given me access to someone who works at HBO, as I mentioned to him part of me just really wants to work with HBO.
This is not really a list of chores, but things I'm much rather be doing than writing this paper, which is not uninteresting. It's a media analysis of depictions of homosexuals, older people and single older childless women in hour long prime time dramas. The problem is I have already written a crapload just on queers and I could just keep going on. This thing is a monster, and I don't know if I should just trim it or vomit up all the information and do some serious editing. I really need an A at least, but I don't know if a monster paper is a help or a hindrance when a prof probably has to read a couple hundred of these.

It is fall cleaning day in punch-land, so today I've:

- swept
- vacuumed
- washed alllll the dishes
- cleaned the bathroom
- washed the air conditioner filters

Still to do:

- launder the towels and sheets
- do the rest of the laundry
- dust
- roll coins
- organize my paperwork
- balance the checkbook
- update my December calendar

Non-chore-wise, I need to write two peer assessments. So far I'm having trouble saying anything but peer A is an asshole and peer B is a leech, so I think I'll put that off a while.

I've gone from super anxiety ridden advanced preparation to overconfident careless slackerdom in a single semester.

Me too, ethylene. I'm not sure what happened, but in the last two weeks I just stopped caring about classwork, and somehow I'm doing better than ever. It's throwing me through a loop.

Busy too!
Already baked and iced cake (made two loaf pan ones: one to take to my brother's and one to give to neighbors since they will look after critters while I am gone)

Wheat bread is on first rise.

Dishwasher is engaged in making mess clean.

Next, is work under my place including must remember to plug in heat tapes.

Need to run to store sometime.

Tomorrow is packing clothes and getting all set up for critter care.

And cleaning house since neighbors and their family will be at my place to use oven while I am gone.

Oh, must remember to pay power bill.

I'm down to:

7. Laundry
10. Look through the gazillion non-fiction books due in the next couple weeks to figure out which ones I want to read and which are going back unread.
11. Finish making my door wreath

No raking though. Still not too shabby. I might actually start tomorrow's list today, which will means less to do tomorrow.

Done:

Got beat up in Martial Arts class. Again. Three hours later and I'm still exhausted.

To Do:
laundry
get ALL THE THINGS from my damned house so I can rent it or sell it. That's what I'm not looking forward to the rest of this weekend. All that shit. It used to be stuff, but now it's shit.

Ack! All I've done is call (again) to ask the people I bought my new bed from when I can expect to hear about delivery, and eat breakfast, and read the NYT.

Currently dealing with a ridiculously large on line overpayment ($2800 instead of $28!!) on a credit card so my bank account isn't completely bare. B of A says their chat reps are really busy right now. You think?

Still on the to do list:

1. Buy boring cleaning things at store (silver polish, drain cleaner, TP, paper towels)

2. Pick up packages at UPS store

3. Find a pillow for the gorgeous cheap pillow cover we bought in China

4. Drop off beautiful Chinese blouses at dry cleaner to have strategic little snaps added over the belly button area (to prevent beautiful Chinese blouses from flopping open unexpectedly)

5. Get to the bottom of overflowing "in" box on the home desk

6. Pick up raw bones for the pup

Off soon to get going. Sorry about the overload, lysdexic. I HATE moving.

4PM and I haven't done crap! I've been watching netflix and knitting. Must at least get a load of laundry done. I try to get stuff done during the week so I can actually relax on the weekend, but that doesn't always happen.
posted by wens 19 November | 16:13
Me, either. And I'm about to go take a nap, too. At least Michigan kicked ass!
posted by Pips 19 November | 16:17
I'm supposed to have a list?

OK, so...

1. Make chore list.
posted by Eideteker 19 November | 16:33
Reading your lists makes me want to take a nap.

Here's my list:
1. Take a nap
2. Watch a movie
3. Eat food

PS:
5. Go outside.
Outside is overrated. Plus it's COLD. It's been hovering around freezing for a week or so. Brrr!

PPS:
4. a confirmation lesson on the women (ruth, esther, jael, deborah, woman how helps david kill a rebel, etc) of the Hebrew Scriptures
Yay Deborah!
posted by deborah 19 November | 16:41
Ok, so I got SOME OF THE THINGS from the house. I forgot about my knee getting busted up this week. But I filled up the car with a ton of stuff, so I don't feel quite so unaccomplished.

Also got some boxing gloves so I can give some back next class.

Still to do: Laundry. This may be the week to teach the kids how those infernal machines work.
posted by lysdexic 19 November | 20:58
I can't believe I forgot the pup's bones. Got the rest and a load of laundry done, though.
Most fun thing was going to framing store and working with the staff on gorgeous frame plan for my looooong poster of the Great Wall.

Yeah, my so-called 'short' nap turned into a good 2 hours of zzzzzzzzzz. Oops. So that killed most of the day for me. I managed to make pumpkin bars before I went to drum class, but I didn't do my exercises and I did the homework for Wicca class before I went, but that's been about it for today.

I might manage to study Czech, meditate, and do my IB readings before I go to bed tonight, but I'm not sure. I suppose I should eat something more substantial for dinner than just some cheese and a vegan oatmeal raisin cookie, but I'm not really hungry.
