A few years ago when I first moved to the Smoky Mountains, I was out in the woods riding a friend's dirtbike. It was late afternoon and the sunlight was coming through the trees. I came around a corner and saw five or six little dappled critters running around the trail. To my everlasting shame, my first thought was, "WTF... are those dachshunds?"

Yup. Just for a moment I thought a bunch of boar piglets were wild Appalachian wienerdogs.

/facepalm

Hmm, actually dachshunds and piglets do look pretty similar.
