As winner of the inaugural MetaChat New Raffle Tradition Raffle... [More:] and having just signed a check for rent on a new place to live and thus getting rid of a lot of stuff, I'm going to add another layer of complexity.

I'm going to do two raffles.

Raffle #1: Tickets cost exactly one comment. You may only enter once. Though you can comment more than once, I just won't put your name in extra times. You know what I mean.

Raffle #2: In which I decide your prize. If you win, you are welcome to choose your prize from the list if and only if you don't want whatever gets picked from the hat.

Your prize will be one of the following
- everything you need to DIY bookbinding.
- greeting cards
- pair nice tap dance shoes
- tea ball steeper
- small framed painting
- pair knee-length hot pink durable winter weather socks
- rhinestone 50s silver glasses frame
- That thing that I find while moving that can't yet be named because I won't know what it is that would be perfect to send to you until I see it, but that would be great on this list.
P.S. I adopted out my chickens to a lady with 4 acres of land who wanted chicken pets because I figured I wouldn't be able to take them with me when I moved. And! Guess what! The place I'm moving into has chickens!

P.P.S. The raffle will be closed 24 hours from the original post, and the winner will be posted some time in the next week or so.

Oh, man! Someday I will win one of these Metachat raffles. I could use the greeting cards.
posted by TrishaLynn 11 May | 05:11
Actually, even if I don't win, if someone doesn't pick the greeting cards, can I have 'em? For the cost of shipping U.S.P.S. priority mail in a medium flat rate box?

Fascinating.

I can already tell I'm going to get addicted to the excitement of these raffles, and somebody will have to do some kind of intervention.

You could have raffled off the chickens. Everybody wants to win a chicken!

Ooh! Some of those things on the list sound awesome!

I think I am going to get in on these raffles. I've got some cool shit to give away when I move out of country and I think this could resolve my issues....

(not entering raffle, I swear! I have too much stuff already!)

Oooh . . .shiny things! What size and gender are the tap shoes? Congratulations on your pickles!

Oooh. I am intrigued.

Rock. On.

Or rather, maybe I should say, Book. On.

I'd like to bind a book just for the hell of it.
posted by ethylene 11 May | 08:20
ethylene: It's fun, but once you get the basics down, you want to work with very expensive materials, and that's the catch. Finding content that others would want bound and further, truly appreciate, has been my biggest hurdle. Journal writers make it easy, but binding blank books gets a bit old after awhile.

I would like to win a small painting. Or rhinestone glasses. Cool idea, thanks.

Here is the inaugural raffle.

I missed this entire raffle thing before and I have been baffled, baffled by raffles, I tell you, for two confusing days now. Now though that I see the raffling light let me tell you how totally awesome I find hot pink knee length winter socks. Very awesome, that is how awesome, very awesome indeed.

My sister-in-law has only one weakness in life: raffles. The poor woman will enter any raffle, any lottery (except for the real one), any "buy 8 tickets for a chance at this fuzz I have in my pockets." She hasn't yet won. It's a sore subject with her now.

I want to learn bookbinding!

I would like to be entered for the tea ball, please. . .

oh man oh man...

What size are the tap shoes? Please say 9.5 just-a-titch-wide.

Bookbinding sounds awesome. However, in the tradition of previous raffles, I don't really want to win.

(ok I really want to win)

I'd create stuff just to bind it if I found a taste for it. This could be the impetus I need for a prolific phase.

I am going thru stuff too to have a garage sale. There is nothing like getting rid of stuff. Maybe getting someone else's stuff.
