We took the dog to the hospital last night →[More:] Tiger, our eight-year old Golden show dog reject (no really, her parents were show dogs, but she has a heart murmur, so she can't be bred.) started acting funny. The boy told me it sounded like
bloat, so we took her to a clinic right away. It was midnight when we got there.
Tiger's okay, but the vet said she did sound like she was having symptoms of bloat. They x-rayed her and found her stomach was normal, but she had some irritation in her GI tract and gave her some (essentially) Pepcid AC shots and one to calm her nausea so she wouldn't keep swallowing air, thus making the potential bloat worse.
She came out of the back just fine, running up to us, happy to see us, and then running around the empty 24-hour clinic office, sniffing things. We got home at about 2:30 am, and she crashed out. She's a little slower this morning, but she seems much better. Still, I'm so worried about her. She's the best dog we've ever had, and I know we'll lose her some day, I just don't want it to be now.
Here's a few pictures of her:
