24 Hours of Lemons [More:]I took my family to the New England 24 hours of LeMons (mefi). I knew after seeing the description on mefi that I had to go.

The kids were a little scared of the noise, but they got into. Mrs. Plinth and I both really loved it. There was a yellow flag every 20 minutes or so due to incompetence, but then again the course was not very forgiving as it had a serpentine turn in it.

It was effing hilarious. Effing awesome. From the description alone, I thought I wanted to get involved in the race and then after seeing the driving, I knew that I wouldn't. Oh God no. There was some pretty terrible driving and a lot of squealing tires and bumps. I saw no less than three cars spin out 180 degrees on the serpentine turn. I saw one car lift a wheel going through that. Yikes.

Sample car.

Punishments are dished out with impunity. At one point they brought out a whole team that had been bad and made them to a chorus line routine while chanting "I didn't mean to do it."

Sweet.
I grew up around dirt track racing and that looks like a lot of fun.

Must be race weekend. I went to the Vintage Grand Prix here in the 'burgh and watched cars older than me tear around the roads through Schenley Park. Fun to see fifty year old Alfas and Jags take three wheeled turns.

Octothorpe--the Grand Prix was my favorite childhood event! My dad loves cars and would always take us. Alas, we're all grownups, so he went alone this year to check out the classic cars on the hill.
