Weekend plans? [More:]
1. Specklet and TheDonF are coming to stay! I am so excited about this.

2. We are going to see some very old buildings, and visit some farm animals.

3. And we are going to have a cream tea at the best tea shop in the East of England. This is the one I had last time I was there.
Senyar, next time I am in England I will visit you and demand that we have that cream tea. Maybe daily.

I need plans! So far all I know is stuff that I don't want to do!

Next week though...heading down to Toronto to see The Avett Brothers on Tuesday night, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre on Wednesday night. So, maybe that'll make up for the no-plan weekend?

Oh, that tears it: I am making a cream tea sometime this summer if I can successfully make a batch of clotted cream.

Weekend plans
1. We're spending an evening with The Fella's family: sprucing up the cottage, tickling nieces, etc.
2. My mother's place is having a rummage sale, so I'll go buy back any of the cool stuff she gave away.
3. Trying to figure out what's for dinner. I'm thinking peanut-sesame noodles with tofu and asparagus. Mmmm.

I win with stuff I don't want to do, I think. I am spending the ENTIRE weekend flying home.

NOooooo!

I want to stay in the UK and visit with essexjan, specklett and theDonF.

FROWNY SAD CRYING FACE.

1. A friend is coming over for dinner tonight and we're going to test out my fondue pot. (Neither one of us has used anything like it before, so it's going to be an adventure.) It's super awesome that I got my furniture back today since I'm having company and it's nice to not have to sit on lawn chairs.

2. My brother is allegedly going to replace the rear brake pads on my car on Sunday after work. I'll believe it when it happens.

3. I have schoolwork to do. It's the middle of the semester for me so I need to start my final project.

4. It's also the start of my 'vacation'. I've got lots of shit to do and there's stuff that looks like fun in DC that I could go do, but I don't think I have the energy. (Yeah, I'm working a day in the middle of my vacation since no one ever wants to cover Sundays, especially the Sunday before a holiday. Bonus: I don't actually have to use any of my accrued time!)

1. [pasted from other thread] There is some fresh halibut around in these parts. . .halibut fish and chips tonight. . .the chips being some small potatoes sliced into rounds and broiled with garlic and cajun spice. With beer.

2. Sand volleyball tomorrow and/or Monday.

3. Gardening.

4. Buying a vacuum cleaner.

5. Getting rest of old pics off desktop computer in bedroom, plus printing out last 3 years of taxes, then wiping computer and donating it somewhere.

6. Monday, taking my beloved Guild F-40 (made in 1960) to daughter in Portland for her use. Thought long and hard about it but she loves the guitar too and she has more musical energy now than I do.

1. Tonight I am going to see Shrek with my husband and kids. Before the movies we're having dinner at a place called, Gabbie's Pizza.

2. Tomorrow morning I am touring the garden of one of our rehab patients. He is a Master Gardener and does vertical planting. (Check out slide show of his garden here.) I'm arriving there around 8:30 with my kids and then going to the beach with kids, sister, nephew, and parents.

3. Saturday after the beach I am helping husband prep and paint the bathroom ceiling because we are having our bathroom re-tiled.

4. Sunday day I am relaxing and cleaning. Sunday night I am going to a minor league baseball game.

5. Memorial Day is beach and lunch with family. Then we will paint the bathroom walls. Tile installation is Wednesday.

1. Eurovision!

1a. Cake-making. We're doing a chocolate-stout cake with brandy-raspberry-mousse filling. Topped with buttercream frosting. And glitter. And a map of Europe. And maybe little flags.

1b. Eurovision party! We're having a quiz, a game of i-spy, a lucky draw, and lots of snacks and booze.

1c. Post-Eurovision hangover.

I take it that it's a long weekend in the US?

It's Saturday morning and I'm sitting here because my boot camp got cancelled due to rain, waiting to hear if my son's tennis has also been cancelled. Plan to do some more work moving huge rocks to build gardens, mowing lawns, washing the (work) car, going to mum's place to do some maintenance (and bitch about why I have to do it all when she has three other kids, but not in front of Mum), cleaning up inside because the kids' room is getting feral. Further work on eradicating rats - they've taken some of the baits, so need to keep them replenished and look for any other areas they are trying to get inside (if they stay outside, I leave them alone - once they try to get inside, they're toast). Maybe watch a DVD with the kids. Do the folding/ironing. Wash the dishes. Re-arrange furniture in living area to accommodate impending fireplace installation (just waiting for top chimney section to be removed from previous owner's house) so we can be toasty warm in front of the fire in our new (second-hand, picked up from the side of the road - free!) fireplace.

Probably get some other stuff in there too, I hope.

So, same old, same old.

1. Pizza night with the fambly
2. GIRL'S NIGHT OFF. I think it's time for another Kill Bill marathon
3. Before that, I have to mow the alfalfa in the lawn. Again.
4. SCIENCE! Sunday and Monday I'll be doing "let's see what happens when we do THIS!" with the kids.
5. Cleaning up after ourselves.

So far we've had the regular pizza night (garlic mushroom and blue cheese) and tomorrow as Senyar says me and TheDonF are off to see her!

Sending good thought to those folks that are having woes.

And oh woe, woe, jonathanstrange, I wish wish wish you could meet us in Essex!

Tomorrow, I will be awakened early by a work crew guiding a giant crane to the end of my block so they can bang around in the elevated train station for the rest of the weekend. I'll escape to a cafe at the anchorage of the Pulaski Bridge and I'll fail to resist the call of the croissant-coffee combination. If it's nice out and the cafe is a crowd, I'll walk to the gantries and breakfast by the East River.

I just double-booked tomorrow. I forgot that I have plans to watch hockey when I said I'd go to with a neighbor to a barbecue in Brooklyn tomorrow night. It might be hard to do both. Sunday also features a barbecue; after all, it's the best weekend of the year.

Eureka! I can invite the double-booked barbecue-goer to the Sunday barbecue, since he'd be welcome, and watch hockey tomorrow night. Or, hell: vice versa.

I'll relax on Monday. The work crews will be at home. With a little luck the trains will still be diverted for the construction and silence will reign.

I have two pairs of suit pants that came back from alterations about an inch and a half too long. I'm going to hem them myself. I will have plenty of time on Monday.

Next week at work I get to meet the pay czar.

Tomorrow: got to drive across town to get one of my mom's prescriptions filled that we THOUGHT they filled when we went to the drugstore on Tuesday. AAARGH. Also, um, talk to Mom about the fact that I think she's going into a serious depression and what can we do about it.

Sunday: go to the local museum to see The Allure of the Automobile, which I am really looking forward to.

Monday: Ugh, gotta go to work as usual, but partner promises a cookout on the deck when I get home.

Ardiril, that's horrible...ugh. Hope everything turns out ok for you and your son.

My husband is going to drag me to the beach. Meh. I don't really want to go. His sister is at the beach house and she gets on my nerves, she won't leave us alone for a second and follows us everywhere and talks continuously.

But I'll go, because he wants me to, and sometimes I'm nice.

I turned down going to Princeton Reunions (big event in Princeton Thursday to Sunday, all the alumni come back to town) because I have to do too much work, boooo.... On the plus side, I talked the powers that be into leaving the air conditioning on in the office this weekend. (What a sad "plus.")

Tonight: Made tuna noodle casserole! It was delish!
Tomorrow: Working then watching Casablanca. Maybe having dinner with a friend.
Sunday: A goodbye BBQ for a friend who is moving.
Monday: More work.

Hopefully I'll get some sun and reading and a walk in there too.
