So I just watched the trailer for Treme And I noticed that the Bunk, Lester and Bubbles are all in the show. How long will it be before they are no longer Bunk, Lester and Bubbles?
Oh! I didn't realize Bubbles was on it too! It's going to be tough for me to think of them as anyone else. But everyone involved with the show is so good at what they do, I have faith that it will happen. (Plus there's John Goodman! One of my favorite criminally underrated actors!)

I think Bubbles, specifically, is a character so entrenched in Baltimore and in the dialect and story of the city, that it'll be pretty easy for a good and thoughtful writer to separate the actor from the character. Bunk as well - although I get the impression that Pierce brought a lot to the role of Bunk, he's got a much more central role in Treme and a real love for the city that I hope will show through.

Lester is more difficult for me, though - Clarke Peters comes from a theater background and it really shows in the character. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

And tell me that I'm wrong, but is the girl who plays Clarke Peters' daughter on Treme the same girl who played his girlfriend on The Wire?

Definitely. He got hosed by the Academy after King Ralph.

(I kid, I love Goodman too. And Steve Zahn? Eff yeah!)

I'm definitely looking forward to Treme. Though I don't have HBO, so I'll probably lag behind a bit, so I may avoid future threads to prevent spoileristic activities.
