Advice for a day in Boston I'll be at a loose end in Boston on the last Saturday in May.[More:] My plane arrives ridiculously early in the morning and there's nothing I need to do till about 5:30 pm. I'll be staying at some giant central Sheraton.

I haven't been to Boston since I was a kid, so I don't know the place at all. I have a couple of questions.

1) How should I spend the day? What should I see? I'll have a small shoulder bag with me but nothing monstrous or wheeled.

2) Anyone up for a mid-day meetup?
Aquarium?
Duck Boat tour?
Fanieul Hall?
Computer Museum?

Is that Memorial Day weekend?

I will be in Boston that weekend, and a bunch of plans just fell through? Because all of 'dudes friends had last-minute bachelor parties and memorials of veteran forefathers and such. We can totally meet up.

If you want to do touristy things there's Fanieul Hall and the, like, Freedome Walk, which basically starts you right in the heart of Boston and walks you all the way out to the bay (with a bunch of historical bars and houses along the way, plus a Holocaust memorial). Definitely not something I'd want to tote a duffel bag along, but a messenger bag might be OK.

The extra "e" is for historical authenticity.

I think you'd like the Freedom(e) Walk, tangerine. I mostly recommend it because I used to work in the North End, and I think you'd get a kick out of the North End. But besides it's kick-getting factor, it's also just a really cool ooooooold East Coast setting.

Yeah, I had fun running around the North End when I was there a couple years ago.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner museum is just wonderful, and only about a block off of the T.

Neato. It's hard for me to predict that far ahead, but I'm very close to Boston and would love to meet you both. There is lots to do. Please keep me posted.
