trivial stuff that makes my mind ASPLODE! (1) when people don't realize the word "shawty" comes from "shorty" (2) when people want to reprimand you with "at least out here that's how we do it.."[More:]

Both have happened to me for the second or third time in my life recently and that's ENOUGH! Don't you fucking tell me that's how we do it round here like I don't fucking belong! What the fuck!
Seriously! *Grabs Uzi*

Actually the times it's made me mad is when people say something like "in american culture" or "in the west.." or whatever. FUCK THAT NOISE. You want to contest something with me just talk to me as a normal human being, not as an outsider. Like this dude. What is his fucking deal? *grips onto Glock with other hand*

In wordtwist "hun" is spelled "hon." At least that's how they do it.

"Well, it's a lot better than my Japanese!" That's something I hate. What do I mean? I'm talking about when someone from, say, Japan is talking to an American, and the Japanese person says "I'm sorry, my English is not so good", and the American says "Hey, it's a lot better than my Japanese!" Of course, the American who says this speaks NO Japanese at ALL, beyond, say, "sushi" and "sayonara". So, think about it... put yourself in the position of the Japanese person, and think about what a bizarre backhanded compliment that is. The American is saying 'I don't speak ONE FUCKING WORD of Japanese! DUH, your English is better than my Japanese'. Now, I've seen people (Europeans, South Americans, Japanese) who've heard this "it's better than my _____" for the first time, and unsurprisingly, they usually think "oh, so, this person speaks a little _____". Then they quickly find that this person speaks nary a word of ______. And they feel kind of weird. When you think about it from this angle, it's a stupid fucking thing to say.

I like the evolution of "shorty" to "shawty" even less than I like the original word. The first time I heard the song Replay, I genuinely thought he was saying "shaadi", and thought, "ooh, indipop fusion?" But alas, no.

Use of "the way we do things around here" and other phrases should be legally restricted to a 100-yard radius around the parental dinner table, and be prohibited from being directed at anyone over the age of 18.

I have to say, though, that in general I don't mind being called "hun". It fires my blood and whets the appetite of my sword for the flesh of my enemies.

I always hate it when I say something and someone else is all, "Hey - that's my wife you're talking about, asshole!"

notquitemaryann, I hear you about your dislike of the original word.. I still get wierded out at Jazz-age kinda thing of calling a partner "daddy" or "hey mami" or whatever. But after a couple months procrastinating on hip hop boards I have totally decided to switch! Because:

"Holla at your boy" > "Drop me a message."
"Shorty's a snowbunny" > "The chick is white."
"Good looking out playa" > "I appreciate that man."
"How're you gonna be like..." > "I can't believe he just..."
"Damn that's cold homie" > "Wow that's ruthless."
"I ethered that Stan!" > "I destroyed that fan"

Now when I accidentally say "show me what your momma gave you" someday I shall report back on what the addressee's reaction was!
