One month and a half until Halloween! Just enough time to build your Marie Antoinette wig or grow out your unibrow. What are you thinking about dressing as?[More:]

Dan Deacon. I'm going to see him the day before Halloween, and I think it would be hilarious, but I'd have to get around to relensing the orange eyeglass frames I have laying around.

Enid Coleslaw from Ghost World. Again, I wear glasses.

Bumblebee. I'm allergic to shoddily-slutty storebought costumes, but I can get behind wearing these socks and maybe this dress with some black electrical tape stripes on the bodice. I think I'd have "No Rain" by Blind Melon in my head for a week, though.

What about the rest of you? What would you dress as if you had unlimited time and a personal seamstress and a really cool party to go to?

Whelk, I want to hear like, 50 different ideas from you.
I always thought I'd love to dress as either a stone cold mod, or a Ramone. Unfortunately, between my curly hair, and non-sleek build...those are not good choices. But wow, that mod look. So cooool.

Sadly, I haven't been to a non-kid Halloween party in twenty years.

I don't have plans yet (my homie is arranging them supposedly), but I'm planning on dressing up as Britney Spears from the Toxic video, in the flight attendant outfit.

Oooh. Don't forget BunnyCon!

That said, I haven't put a lick of thought into it. Mind's been a bit occupied lately, I guess. Not in a bad way, just...occupied.

I'd really like to go as Girl Reporter, a la Rosalind Russel in His Gal Friday. But I don't have the personal seamstress, so I don't think that's happening.

Rockpile had a neat idea....

A banana! Not the Juliet kind, just a regular banana.

ThePinkJulietBananaSuperhero. But I fear most folks would not know.

I don't have any Halloween ideas, but I wanted to say - Juliet Banana, that dress is all sorts of fantastic.

TPS, I dressed as a banana once for Andyland, an Andy Warhol themed fête at the Wexner Center in Columbus, a sweet museum that was having a Warhol exhibit at the time. RJDJ played and there were drag queens and a photo booth and they gave us push-up pops! I have no idea what push-up pops have to do with Andy Warhol, but I ain't complaining.

I don't think anyone actually got it; mostly I just wore all yellow and a yellow hoodie with thick, sloppy black lines painted down the sleeves. I still get a lot of use out of the hoodie, though, so no harm done.

I'm in Toronto so I am looking forward to seeing a least one well-dressed Michael Bryant with a doll dressed in cyclist wear hanging off him. But then, I am pretty tasteless.

Juliet Banana you look so pretty in pastel, you would make an awesome "my little pony" with a unicorn horn, a tail, cloggy shoes and a sparkly picture on your bum.

Or dress as bride and have a contantly playing mp3 of that song from the viral wedding entry youtube we have all seen a million times (and yet I can't remember what song it is...)

I'm wearing a vintage swiss dot dress, a Lucille Ball wig, Groucho Marx nose and mustache and carrying a basket of rhinestones.

I am:

Lucy...in disguise...with diamonds.

Bwhahahahahahahahah!

"Dress as a favorite LP" is a damn good costume party theme.

Moonraker was on last night. Was thinking Jaws and Mrs. Jaws?

I was kind of tossing around the idea of doing a Big Daddy/ Little Sister Bioshock costume with my boyfriend, but there's no way we could get the Big Daddy costume put together in time now, and without that the Little Sister is just a zombie girl in a dress.

But it's just as well, as I don't have any plans either.

I always wanted to go as Jughead, but I could never find a suitable hat.
posted by concrete 14 September | 18:41
Jughead's hat is a modified fedora. Take the labels out of an old fedora and turn it inside out pushing the crown out. Cut the brim into big scallops or triangles. Flip the brim up. Add pins, buttons, or badges. (If I recall correctly, Jughead actually has Morse code pins on his.) Done!

It was a popular homemade style in the 1930s and 1940s.
