Mel Blanc (1908-1989) Listen to the quality of his voice work in "Stupor Duck" (1956).

In his field, he was Ted Williams. Or Michael Jordan.

Best there ever was.
Definitely one of a kind. Do you know, on his tombstone is inscribed "That's All, Folks!"

He was definitely one of the very small group that I consider "American geniuses." Him, Frank Lloyd Wright, Billie Holiday, Harry Partch, a few others.

There's a reason I took the time to track down all of the classic Warner material. In the unlikely event that I have kids, they'll have something worth watching. (Also, it's just damn good work.)

I think Mel Blanc, Friz Freleng, and Chuck Jones are the holy trinity of American cartoons. Mel's voice with Friz's and Chuck's comedy timing are just dynamite.

I still find myself watching a comedic movie and thinking I just wish the directer had the dead on time timing of Friz and Chuck.

First DJ AM, now Mel Blanc. Who's next in the trifecta?
