Just my luck ... →[More:]
I went to an AA dance tonight on the King's Road in Chelsea. It was a lot of fun, I saw people I hadn't seen in ages and had a good old dance (lots of Michael Jackson was played).
Anyway, I got chatted up by this guy, who kept dancing over to me, and then engaged me in conversation. After we swapped names and basic pleasantries he said "I can't believe there isn't a bar here - I had to go out to the pub over the road to have a couple of beers."
(He'd had way more than a couple)
Turns out he didn't realise the dance was an AA event. He'd been walking by, heard the music, strolled in, paid his £8 on the door and started dancing. Out of all the guys there, I had to be chatted up by the only bloke in the place who was on the piss.
Of all the gin joints, in all the bars, in all the world ...
BoringPostcards, you'd have LOVED Chelsea tonight - the last Saturday in the month is the Classic Car Cruise. Oh my, there were some beauties driving up and down the King's Road, lots of them American classic cars and pickup trucks from the 40s and 50s, beautifully restored, some with incredible paint jobs.
