1. I am not a mycologist
2. They're probably what I've heard called "LBMs" (Little Brown Mushrooms) which are generally ignored.
3. Unless you know a mycologist or are a mycologist, eating unknown mushrooms can be a *very* bad thing, when some delicious looking mushrooms carry the common name Death Angel.
4. Many mushrooms live off decaying plant matter, so they're probably taking a small amount of nutrients away from your plant, but not enough to starve it.

I think a little gnome statue nestled among them would look cute as hell. This may also explain why I didn't take up interior decorating.

There, I left an answer(ish) for ya RM. I'll go hunt for my books now to see if I can find a proper reference for Monks Caps.

I just looked at cog_nate's answer and it's a good one. I'll look for the books anyway.
