Photo Friday : Projects We're Proud Of [More:]
I'm really proud of decorating my spare room. I know all I did was paint it white, but it's the first time I'd ever done anything like that by myself, and I was really happy with the result. It had been my computer room, but now has a bed for guests (and now also, once again, houses my home office).

It's better laid out now, as I have a smaller bed, 4ft wide, which fits exactly where the dresser goes. The dresser is back in my bedroom, and I have an office table under the window, so I can work and look out towards the forest.

This is a terrible photo, but this is the embroidery I made for my sister's wedding. It's all blackwork, and varying the patterns to create the shading. It's finished with metallic threads and coloured freshwater pearls. It took around a year.

I built a compressor pedal:

And my daughters convinced me to paint it pink:

It sounds great with the tube amp that I built:

Also, now that I have show myself to be a complete doofus, would someone kindly delete those last three comments.

Just because you're a complete doofus doesn't mean you don't make a damn nice card. :)

Ardiril those are too cute for words. I love seeing all of the metachat creations. I would post something but I haven't taken a picture of any recent projects.

I make my own wine, usually from kits, and do a bunch of gardening, so it seemed natural to try growing my own grapes in my tiny row-house yard. But when I saw the prices on trellises, and what it'd cost to build something I'd like, I balked. Then I found I could buy a welder for $100 and a whole bunch of rebar for $30. What was missing was any experience whatsoever in welding. Eh, I figured it out:

It's gotten a really nice rusty patina now, and the grape vines are loving it. Since we planted the vines just last spring, we got only a handful of grapes (literally--like 8 grapes), but it should do much better this season, and next year might actually provide enough to make a test batch.

That card was awesome, Ardiril. Everyone who saw it commented on how clever it was, and kept opening and closing it.

I painted my kitchen. Many people will not like the color scheme but I do. ;-)

Here are more pictures which include also the hole in the wall between the kitchen & living room which I planned but did not execute.

Here if you are really really bored are some weird ass drawings and art stuff.

My project is a video, which I just completed last night.

One thing I learned is that deep snow does not make a stable surface for a tripod. Imagine that.

Every time I try to post in this thread, I get distracted by eamondaly's beard. What a great project, eamondaly! And that picture is wonderful, can't wait to see the fish. hehe

Here's mine - my boyfriend's father is pretty tall (6'8") and fairly recently widowed, so I wanted something that he could use and know we were thinking of him. An afghan seemed like just the thing - he moved into their cabin in Up North, Wisconsin, where it is crazy-cold, and his house is heated by wood.

My boyfriend picked out the yarn, which is Donegal wool. It makes it even more special for me because that's where half my family is from, and I still have relatives there on a family farm.

It's blue to match his eyes. I knit it super long so that he's finally have a blanket that covered his toes and his chest at the same time. It took a long time, mostly because I got over 1/3 done twice, decided the pattern wasn't as cool as I hoped, and tore it out to start over.

I'm kinda late to this thread, but here's a recently completed project I'm proud of: my new record.
