Did anybody besides me think that McCain looked almost ...relieved in that concession speech?

Yeah. He probably was. I am in awe of all of their energy. I imagine campaigning as grueling. Whatever we was, he was gracious at the end.

Thanks, danf for these! They are very cool.

Well, now i know why flickr's been so slow.
If you'd like Barack Obama to be able to see selected private things…

Uh, no.
And flickr had a "hiccup" while i decided.

Barack Obama is one of your contacts. Change?

Well, yeah.

People - I love this shot.

It looks like Barack's pitching a no-no and his teammates are letting him alone on the bench to not mess with the mojo.

God I love this man and his Presidency.

I wish there was a picture of him just as they all realized he had won. I suspect there would be jumping.

Dude, his running mate, she-who-must-never-be-named-again, didn't know that Africa was a continent and not a country. She also didn't know what countries were in NAFTA. Compounding this, McCain has a really long history of health problems, and he's old.

My guess is that he knew what a train wreck she-who-must-not-be-named would have been as president in the event of his death. Heck, you saw her public image, imagine what she was like "off the record." He was relived that America didn't choose him.

kellydamnit: By virtue of my brother-in-law's incredibly cool job, I was at the Illinois campaign headquarters on election night. When the results started rolling in--the room that I was in was surprisingly nonchalant. I was telling Mr. Blandings last night that no-one seemed particularly tense or any more excited than they had been all along; many people seemed significantly less tense, in fact. There was lots of clapping and occasional cheering, but no pandemonium. Some tequila shots. Some handshaking. A general sense of accomplishment and excitment, but not the wild revelry that you might expect. That changed a bit on the walk to--and during the hanging around in--Grant Park, but it was a much more quiet victory than, say, what was depicted on South Park.

Of course, I was just with the ordinary employees (although some celebrities wandered through! Cool!), not the Important Politicos, so there may have been jumping there, but among the staff where I was, it was big smiles, but not wild abandon.
