WTF I came here to whine about how disorienting the slate.com redesign was but now it's back to the old version(?) and the article introducing the new design is gone...?

A note from the future: the new slate is wide. way wide. and less obnoxious looking. but what's with the wideness? I know slate. I trust slate. Slate articles aren't wide! jeeez

Did they ditch the horrible two column front page layout? I hate having to scroll up and down just to figure out what's new.

I love Slate. But I find it hard to find articles and click around (on the old format). I keep turning on and off the whatsitcalled function (fly out? the thing that makes the scroll over go) but never feel happy.

It appears to be back up now.

Ooh! I like it. I never did like that last layout.

Now if they'll just quit giving so many of their articles questions as titles, I'll be very happy.

Oh, it does look much better, one column of stories and that horrible menu is gone. But the comments are still broken, and they haven't fired Micky Kaus yet.

Dude. I understand that it's better looking. But man. I want my slate like it's been since 2001! Since 1998! Slate has narrow columns! Is that really John Dickerson or Timothy Noah or Dahlia Lithwick? How can you tell?!
