I was just on the porch with the iPod on 'shuffle' and this song came on. My parents were never as into music as I am, but my dad had a couple of this band's albums, probably because of this song, which perfectly captures the feeling of what it's singing about. Enjoy.
Indeed, Twinkie and I were singing that song as we took our afternoon walk!

I love that song.

Of course you do, you're a good American. It's just one of those irresistible pieces of 45rpm rock and roll.

I always hated that song. But I can't hear it now without thinking about this event (see if you can spot my wife), which makes me kinda like it now.

I always hated that song.

Really? This always was one of those irresistible radio songs to me, which makes me stunned that someone with as good an ear as you wouldn't like it.

'Till I'm wheezin' like a bus stop

I just never know about that line. It's like one of those genius metaphors, only not quite.

Come to New York, and listen to the sound a city bus makes when it stops. (John Sebastian, the writer and singer of this song was NYC born & bred).

Great song, that and the old Mungo Jerry chestnut are two I always keep an ear open for when summer rolls around. But boy, lip synching sure has been around a while!

How freaking weird. Mrs. Slack just quoted that song a few hours ago on our way to grab a beer.

And yeah, I've got to go with "it's a classic" and well worth hearing.

Ya, that song just sort of captures an insanely hot summer day perfectly.
Lovin' Spoonful were great and I even have one of Sebastian's solo albums, (Ya, the Welcome Back one,) but I find it hard not to dislike him when I see him on infomercials now.

Funny video, I'd never seen it. I love in those old lip-synced clips when the band slyly alludes to the fact that it's all bullshit and they're miming. I've always liked how Neil Young fucks with it in this Buffalo Springfield clip, starting at around 1.26, which eventually breaks the whole charade down.

There is actually a lot I like about the song. I love the intro with the organ and single snare, and the chorus is pretty irresistible.
I just hate the guy's singing.

Hot damn, Hellbient, that was great. I miss New York so much for stuff like that.

Yeah, stillcho, I'm still kicking myself for not volunteering to be in that.
