Dammit, they want your info at the end. Don't take quiz if you don't want to give info. I should have known!
posted by LoriFLA 07 July | 15:25
And it's US centric, so those that want to live elsewhere in the world wouldn't get much out of this quiz. Personally, I love my town and where I live. I was listening to David Sedaris last night and I heard him make fun of my town. I still like it.

I lied on my info. I think my housing costs muffed the test for me - I got lots of Louisiana, Texas coast, Florida, and the wild card was Providence, RI.
posted by rainbaby 07 July | 15:30
Whenever I do that test I always get towns that start with P. It wants to send me to Pittsburgh, Portland OR and Providence RI.

I lied on my info too and used a mailinator email.

Lots of teeny towns. My top three: Livingston, MT, population 7,000; Kalispell, MT, population 16,400; Homer, AK, population 5,150.

I refuse to move back to Homer until both of my grandparents are dead.

I just used a fakey made-up email.

And in retrospect, I should've told 'em that I wanted to live somewhere with cheap housing.

Ocala, Florida
San Bernardino, California
Fayetteville, Arkansas

Auburn, Alabama
Honolulu, Hawaii
Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Clarksville, Tennessee
Gainesville, Florida
Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Biloxi/Gulfport? I've been here several times and the place is dead except for gambling.

My list:

Little Rock, Arkansas
Alexandria, Louisiana
Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana
Fayetteville, Arkansas
Las Vegas, Nevada
Jackson, Mississippi
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Monroe, Louisiana
Athens, Georgia
Hattiesburg, Mississippi
Memphis, Tennessee
Bryan-College Station, Texas

Ocala, Florida
Tallahassee, Florida
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Clarksville, Tennessee
Chattanooga, Tennessee
Gainesville, Florida
Austin, Texas
Biloxi-Gulfport, Mississippi
Tulsa, Oklahoma
Fort Worth, Texas
Jacksonville, Florida
Of those, I'd actually consider Athens GA, Austin TX, Albequerque NM, or Baton Rouge LA. Maybe Jacksonville, FL, but they seem to be a hurricane magnet. I have family in Chattanooga so I spend a lot of time there- it's nice, but I don't think I'd want to live there.

The rest I either don't know enough about, or would not want to live there.

And this site suggests I might like Little Rock or Jacksonville. Fail.

I got Frederick, MD, which sounds very similar to where I live now. Albuquerque also showed up on my list, despite the fact that I listed desert as a total deal breaker.

My list belonged to Cindy Brady of Sherwood St. in Schwartz, CA.

This thing seems strangely AR and LA-centric to me. It did peg me as an East Coaster, but why no Portland, ME? or Burlington VT?

5. Baltimore, MD
6. Washington DC
7. Norfolk, VA
8. Long Island, NY

I think my housing costs skewed my results, too. And half my list was composed of landlocked states, which is a deal breaker for me.

I have no idea how I'm going to live in Santa Barbara, CA or Kailua-Kona, Hawaii at the price bracket I listed I could afford. That's a funny one, but I'll take it!
