Where can one turn to when they're short on cash? [More:]
To the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C., of course! Stroll on in. Ask to speak to the manager. Produce your manila folder. Make a deal. It's easy.

I have been reading the Wiki entries for Robert Hanssen, Aldrich Ames, and John Anthony Walker. The all approached the Soviets by walking into the Russian embassy. It boggles the mind. I think Hanssen approached the Soviets by other means initially, but but he did go to the Embassy in D.C. after a hiatus. I guess he was getting bored and wanted some more money.
Wow. You sure can buy a spy for cheap.

I ended up selling off a lot of albums in the 80s; had I but known, I could have kept the albums and sold out to the Russkies. I weep.

Don't forgot about Chris Boyce and Daulton Lee who also just walked up to the Soviets to sell them secrets. I had to look up their names since I know them better as the Falcon and the Snowman.

bmarkey - I hear you. I could have kept my AC/DC and Aerosmith records (which I ended up rebuying later) and just sold a few "secrets". I wonder how much I could gotten for my knowledge of WKRP in Cincinnati and where to find the cheapest frozen pizzas in Carbondale Illinois in the late 80's.

Yes, how could I forget the Falcon and the Snowman? I watched this movie for the hundredth time the other day on cable. I was intrigued, even as a kid, when the movie came out. I remember that they described the movie as, "disturbing". I had to see it. I remember watching it on cable as a young teenager, not totally getting it, but I think I was a little disturbed.

I'm surprised and relieved that this thread is about spy movies and not, like, check-cashing places and plasma donation.
