I swear to Christ, a buddy of mine from school over FIFTEEN YEARS AGO sang "Welcome to McDonald's" in Latin class, and the lyrics were nearly identical, including the fries/apple pies rhyme. It must be some sort of pre-internet meme that survived somehow, because I can think of no other 'splanation.

He kept the party going, though, screaming out YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE? YOU AT MCDONALD'S, BABY! YOU GONNA DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE!

"Evenflow" really lands itself to that sort of thing. One night, not long after Science Girl and I moved in together, I was goofing on it and somehow landed on the phrase "Friskies on the mantle". Every now and again one of us will drag that out and we'll both end up on the floor laughing. We're odd that way.

The Nickelback and Alanis both really hooked me. The music certainly seems to be of a certain...vintage.

What could you do with Yellow Ledbetter?

Aside from "Yellow Bedwetter"? I'm stumped.

About 10 years ago a friend called. His wife wanted to find a song but she didn't know the name or any of the words but it was by Pearl Jam. I said "Yellow Ledbetter".

"What?" he replied.

"Just check your e-mail in about three minutes."

He called me back about 20 minutes later wanting to know how I knew that was the song. I told him that when someone doesn't know the name or the words it's always Yellow Ledbetter.
