A nice overview.

Yeah, that one bummed me out big time today. I've been laughing my ass of at George Carlin for as long as I can remember. Few comedians have been on their game for as long as was. For the most part his entire career was strong and even his lesser albums/specials are still worth hearing. And I loved the fact that his bits could be incredibly cerebral one moment and then totally immature the next - and both sides be equally funny. I'm sure there will be many moments ahead where I'll read the paper and think "man, George Carlin would have loved to get a piece of this one."

Yeah.

I got mad at NPR today, because they pulled a bit of a fast one. Almost all the time, they start their obits with the statement "[Whomever] has died today...." and then go on to list their accomplishments, etc. For some reason, they opened with a long description of George Carlin, at which point we were like "what, is he dead?" and then I somehow missed the point at which they actually gave the news of his death. It wasn't until I read it online that it was confirmed.

Yeah, it's a bummer. He was 71. A hardworking and principled guy. And wicked funny.

My response, on my blog (and part 2) and my previous words upon seeing him perform live just last year, and celebrating his 70th birthday. I have nothing more I can say, except for an obvious FUCK!

I have seen him perform live once. It was a great show. I always liked him.
