i haven't seen barely anything either, but i did get to see Javier Bardem say "Julin Snobble" yesterday and i love that for some reason. i want to find a good positive definition for a snobble.

Oh, and Anne Hathaway's mouth is always seems to have that boa constrictor unhinging thing surprise going on. It's a skill, to be sure.

It's the voice, I think. Based on my dozens of viewings of Don't Look Back, and my single viewing of I'm Not There, I'd say that Blanchett put in a little bit too much Greenwich Village, and not quite enough Hibbing, Minnesota.

I'm watching this with an american 16 year old philistine. She's my daughter and I love her but she assumes that since the yahoos that she spends her time with in a rural USian high school haven't seen a film it must not deserve an Oscar.

I do wish she'd shush.

La Vie en Rose was exceptional. The performance definitely deserved an Oscar - it wasn't just entertaining, it was something near to channeling. And just a cool, moving film.

this year's Oscars are fast, lean and somewhat funny. I'm sitting on the couch with a ripped-up oblique muscle that got wonky after I fell on the ice on Friday night.

Fun Oscar Fact: Renee Zellweger and I are exactly the same age. She and I were both born on April 25th, 1968.

I'd be more inclined to get on board with Daniel Day-Lewis if his excesses and slobberings weren't quite so emblematic of most of my problems with There Will Be Blood.

Oh, i haven't seen it either but i have to say: whoever did her makeup tonight deserves an Oscar. Vast improvements over her usual.
Screenplay is usually the reward for the indie that will win nothing else, though.

It's easier to predict some if you haven't seen them. Who doesn't love Daniel?

Reeeally late to this thread.

I hate the strapless dress fashion. They only suit buxom women and they are few and far between in Hollywood.

Bitchfest follows, for which I do not apologise. People put themselves on the red carpet for comment. And I'll only comment on actors/actresses and not people's partners who aren't in showbiz.

I thought Cameron Diaz looked scrawny in her strapless gown and the colour washed her out. She should wear blue, a lovely cornflower blue or darker.

George Clooney's girlfriend looked like she was wearing the curtains from her hotel suite.

Nicole Kidman looked creepy. She's had too much Botox.

Renee Zellwegger wore a fabulous dress but her face is so fucking weird.

Daniel Day-Lewis. I hope that hair was for a film role. And brown suede shoes with a tux?

Julie Christie would have been on my Best Dressed List were it not for those gloves. What was she thinking?

Looking good were: Calista Flockhart, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Hudson, Helen Mirren, Adrienne Frantz (very old-style glamour) and Wesley Gorgeous Snipes.

Okay, found the right thread.....DDL, PLEASE get rid of the hair grease! Katherine Heigl looked the best. Persepolis should have been nominated for best picture instead of being shunted off into the animation. I stayed at the Waldorf, but I have no idea if I was given the same room as my grandfather 44 years ago (Beatle related story MUCH later to those who haven't heard it yet)
