MetaChat Radio. Radio_Replica: Older punk stuff. Starts at 9:15 for about 1-1/2 hrs. Ramones to Discharge. Uh huh. Pogo or GFO.
You would do this while I'm stuck at work?

Well..... it's a spur-of-the-moment thing. Fire up an audio player and tell 'em to fuck orff!

If I had an audio player here, I surely would. I'm musically jonesing, too, since we've got some software on the box at home that's not playing nice with winamp. Grrrr...

What about the windows media player?

Also, jonmc should be listening to this, as I'm sure he'd dig most of it. *stares*

Hey, it worked! Too bad I'm being called away from my desk. I should be back in about 20 minutes or so.

Ok, there's a couple of bands here that aren't really in the punk-to-hardcore/70's to 80's thing, but The Briefs and the others (to come) do well.

mullacc - hey, thanks for tuning in. Yeah, I like them too. i ignore the "emo" tag they get and take them for what they are. Like Rancid. I like the uncompromising honesty in the songs.
posted by Zack_Replica 16 February | 01:32
They were tagged as emo? That's news to me. They're clearly just a Ramones knock-off like the Queers and most of the Lookout! Records '90s line-up. Ben Weasel's sideproject, The Riverdales, was the most explicit Ramones rip-off ever--and pretty good too, I thought.

Anyway, great stuff!

Emo. Yeah, because they talked about feelings, or something. *bleah* Stupid labels. Regardless, they, the Queers et al. kick bum.

btw, it's the hardcore home stretch.
GBH - liked that there were pic from this era that showed GBH with Motorhead tshirts, and vice-versa. Of course, Motorhead always said that they were more punk than metal. Yah!

...speaking of Lemmy and crew...

ha!
the whole pun-krock-fuck-you (sic) thing really falls on it's face when you're trying to be nice, doesn't it?! :))
posted by Zack_Replica 16 February | 02:21
Lovely. Big ups to New Model Army. (But isn't it a bit of a stretch to call the Boomtown Rats "punk"?)
posted by mykescipark 16 February | 20:17
But isn't it a bit of a stretch to call the Boomtown Rats "punk"?

Well, there was always that snotty, pop kind of punk that included Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, and the Clash. I think the Boomtown Rats fit into that.
