The Earth is Not Here for Us.[More:]Ignoring the unnecessary omnipotent-being-bashing in this, as an atheist I gotta say – eeep! The universe really is out to get us!

The idea of the ever-expanding universe creeps me out. How confident are the authoratative sources in this being a certainty?
I laughed quite a bit.

I should clarify: not at the omnipotent-being-bashing, but at just how poorly set up the human body is. Especially towards the end.

H.P. Lovecraft understood all this, even though the science wasn't there in his day. He made the idea of a hostile universe sound a lot more colorful than it is, though.

(Just got to the malformed fetuses bit... eep. This wasn't what I was thinking of when I mentioned Lovecraft, but it might as well have been.)

I dunno... I guess I'm a glass is half full kind of guy. I listen to this and contemplate on how wonderful it is that we are here at all.
