Snow job Yesterday when I got home I was touched and delighted to see that some unknown, thoughtful person had shovelled my front walk and porch steps for me. Of course it snowed all night and is all filled in again, so I must presently go out and shovel. Which bunnies are digging their way out of their bunny holes today?
There are still a few piles of dirty snow in parking lots around here.

That's all I got.

It's been like spring around here for the last couple of days... we even had the windows open at home. Last night it got cold again, though (mid-30s F).

Just gray and rainy here but we're pretty used to that. At least you don't have to shovel rain.

Although I do have to empty the bucket under the leak in the garage roof every few days.

Down in Buffalo we got freezing rain before it switched to a little bit of snow, so I had to chip the car out and then shovel a pathway out of the mix. It was gross; the first time winter has been inconvenient for me this year.

I have a Shoveling Fairy too. I call him Neighbour-Guy since I can't remember his name and he's been doing my walk and around my car all winter. I've never asked him and in the spring I'm gonna get him a nice gift certificate or something to thank him for all his hard work!

Whew! All done shovelling. It's amazing how overheated I get. I start out in parka, cap, and gloves, and by the time I'm done they're all off.

Had to shovel for an hour last night before I could even get the car in the driveway, and another hour this morning before I could get it out again. And by the looks of things I'll be shoveling again tonight. No Shoveling Fairies on my street -- it's every shoveler for him/her self.

I shoveled our front walk roughly 8 times yesterday until I finally gave up. That was a rough snow storm.

this may sound counterintuitive but I have found out that actually shoveling snow without a very heavy jacket and without a hat (sweating in wool caps is really bad), but with gloves and a thick sweater and AFTER that jumping in the shower, very hot, for the morning ablutions, solved that overheat-while-shoveling problem for me.

but then I only shoveled snow when on holiday up in the mountains, and I'm not one who suffers the cold a lot, so your proverbial mileage may vary

6 inches last night, and my neighbor plowed the drive - Yay neighbor!!! Snowing again, and the weather says it's going to keep snowing. I just moved and I have a lake & trees view - absolutely gorgeous covered with thick, wet snow.

I used to hate shoveling, but have realized that it's great exercise and doesn't actually take all that long. It feels so good to see the clean sidewalk. Good boots, heavy wool sweater, gloves & hat are all I need. I always start out w/ the parka on, and have to take it off.

Best of all is shoveling in the evening, then going inside for hot chocolate, then a shot of bourbon, then sleeping very well. Of course, I'd be happier if we could have only 2-3 months of snowy winter, and avoid the mud, ice storms, and general slush that is March and April, but I seem to have chosen to live in Maine, so it's good to appreciate shoveling snow.

Ya, major shoveling here this morning and now I have to go dig my car out. And I always shovel my neighbour's sidewalk. It takes like 5 minutes and it's not worth her getting all her stuff on when I'm already out there anyway. Plus she gets home really late all the time. And I've had mine shovelled many times over the years. It's just kind of a nice, unspoken thing around here.

lotsa lotsa shoveling here. There's a guy across the hall in my apartment building who is apparently paid by the building owner to keep the entrances, walkways and the street sidewalk clear during snow, and he's been working pretty much full time for the last week or so. This morning, I had to borrow his shovel so I could remove the plowtruck throwoff that blocked my car in its carport. When I got to work, had to shovel the building entrances and around the vehicles. Again.

Goddamn, but I am sick of this stuff.

It got into the high seventies here yesterday. Today is a little bit cooler but still beautiful.

Ha!

All of you who shovel for others are deserving of all blessings.

Another Buffalonian, and I shoveled today, as I do every time it snows. I ache all over, but I have to do it because I live in a carriage house 100 feet from the street. The other two individuals who live in this building shovel once per season so far (two years of counting.) They are 15 years younger than me and go to the gym all the time and own a big shovel but never use it. In fact, one of them used my most excellent shovel (which is no longer made, by the way) earlier this year, not to shovel our icy path but to dig out a car. This person then left the shovel in the snowbank to be stolen/shoveled up and mangled by plow, etc.

They are bad neighbors in every way, but the shoveling part irks me the most (well, the way they leave their laundry in the machine for days is up there, too).
