McCartney / Mills. What do you guys think of this situation?
Total mess. Sad what people do to each other.

I used to think she was evilll, but then I think about how much everyone used to hate K-Fed until he became the responsible one. With celebrities, you're not ever getting the real story, and since McCartney is like the baby boomer Jesus, I think that she could be a saint and she would still have been demonized.

Freakin' word! He is a knight in shining armor, at this point.

She seems kinda gold digger-ish to me. I can see how she'd be entitled to 1/2 of what he made during their time together, but not everything he's ever amassed.

And I can see how he might be a butthole, but who the hell isn't on occasion?

I dunno. He and Linda were together a damn long time, and until now he was the only Beatle who never divorced. It seems like Heather sort of came out of the woodwork, tied him down and had a kid and now she wants his loot after only 4 years?

her unquenchable thirst for fame and money was so evident from day 1 that I'm surprised that somebody who has not been reported as being an Alzheimer's patient could possibly marry her.

Divorce is sad. High profile/high stakes divorce is brutal. Watching other people's divorces exposes most of the really ugly aspects of humanity.

That sad, despite being cash poor, there is no way she could not get an attorney to represent her (unless of course British contingency fee agreements are significantly different from American ones, which is certainly possible) and crying "I'm too broke to even have a lawyer as I go up against Sir Walks-on-Water" is just a publicity trick and dirty pool. It's also a seriously dumb move, given there's a child involved.

Marriage takes two people, not one. She may be a gold-digger, but it was his choice to marry her without a prenup- surely people in his life advised him against that (his daughter Stella, for one- she never liked Heather).

i have this recurring soft-focus image in my head of mccartney arriving at his final destination. he sees linda across a lush, green field. they run toward each other in slow motion as the love theme from tchaikovsky's romeo and juliet begins to swell. they embrace... and then suddenly linda smacks paul upside the head and says "what the fuck were you thinking?"

Ah, England! You had so much to teach the US about real, hard-hitting, investigative journalism. But it seems this tabloid paparazzi bullshit is the only lesson that stuck.

Pre-nuptial agreements are not legally binding under English law, so even if she had signed one, although it might be evidence of what they'd agreed at the time of the marriage, the court can ignore it if it considers it equitable to do so.

And bearing in mind all the issues concerning conduct that have been alleged, anything that would have been written into a pre-nup would be pretty worthless, in view of the allegations that both parties have flung at each other.

It's a pity she's decided to represent herself. Although she appears to be a reasonably intelligent woman, she is not qualified to represent herself in a contested ancillary relief hearing (which is the technical term for it). Although it's the judge's job to make sure she's not disadvantaged by the absence of legal representation, her lack of training and skills in both law and advocacy suggests there won't be a swift resolution to the dispute.

What ej said. I was a judicial law clerk in Family Court for a year, so I have far less experience than essexjan in these matters, but enough experience to say that representing yourself in an action like this is idiotic.

I don't understand why she thinks she deserves such a huge chunk of his money for such a short-lived marriage. Certainly their daughter should be well taken care of, but c'mon...it's not a fight between poverty and wealth. It's about Heather only being rich when she wants to be filthy rich. Hard to be sympathetic about that.

They're dying in order of coolness, quonsar, which means that McCartney is going to be around for a long, long time.

not mccartneyist - well, okay, yeah, maybe a little mccartneyist.

I respectfully submit that Ringo Starr is the least cool of all the Beatles.

McCartney has made a deal with the devil and will outlive us all.

Having said that, when it comes to all matters involving Heather Mills: I am firmly and forever on TEAM CUTE BEATLE.
