I just managed to switch into all the classes that I wanted, because I basically have been hitting "Refresh" on the course section page constantly for the past two days until they opened up additional spots. Being addicted to the intenet finally pays off. Take that, online registration!

So cool!! That makes up for all the stress you were suffering from getting the not-so-good professors!!

Wow. That's quite a feat.

I have perfectly dreadful memories of the registration process at the college where I spent my freshman year. This was 1982-83, and you literally had to RUN across the campus from one building to another and stand in long lines to register. Better Living Through Technology!!

Yay!

I'd like to take about 10% credit for your good fortune, occhiblu, because today I re-found my lucky rock, which had been lost for a year. It was stuck in the grille between the dryer and the lint filter. It was dislodged by accident.

It was a fortuitous day for all, apparently, and I thank the rock.

Glad to hear it, occhiblu. Must be a huge relief.

Related story: The university my uncle went to had just started telephone registration at the time. Apparently his initials (which you had to enter to begin) were the code to launch some bizarre subroutine in the registration system. Therefore he had to do the running back and forth registrar-prof1-registrar-prof2-registrar, ad infinitum. After his umpteenth visit to the registrar's office, the receptionist looked at him irritably and said, "You know, this university would run much better if it wasn't for you students." She wasn't joking.

Ha!

I am lucky in that the director/administrator person for our program is amazingly wonderful, *and* amazingly effective and efficient, which is not a combination that often goes together. I'm still kind of amazed that she not only answers my emails almost instantaneously, but also always answers the actual question I've asked with accurate information and in a pleasant tone. When the registration process was *completely* fucked up over the summer, she specifically asked anyone who was affected by it to email her their requested schedule and she fixed it all herself, within the entirety of a single business day.

It's very cool, and very appreciated.

(Which spurs me to think that I owe her a thank you...)

After getting beat out of classes I needed repeatedly I developed two skills that may work for you. 1) Complain to anyone that will listen and then complain to their bosses. Sometimes they will give you what you want just to make you shut up. 2) Show up on the first day of class for the class you want even though you are not on the roll and when the first person drops out make sure the prof knows to put YOUR name on the roll. Or the prof may just write you in on the roll regardless if you can manage to squeeze an extra desk in the room.
