THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?
If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.
Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

At least, I think that linked essay debunks that part of the illusion. As I read more of the guy's site, I'm finding him annoyingly left-brained, and therefore a bit less than 100% credible. :-)
Most folks don't realize that the whole left brain/right brain things is basically a load of bunk.
What is NOT bunk, though, is that you use the right half of your brain when confronted with something new. (Kids spend most of their time in their right brain.) The left side of the brain is used when you deal with familiar, known, practiced things. (Most adults spend most of their time in their left brain.) There's a whole lot more to it, but basically, new things are weird and disorienting to adults, and the left brain tries to make sense of it; hence the perceived dichotomies between the halves (holistic vs. rational, objective vs. subjective, sequential vs. intuitive).
oh, so sorry seanyboy, and baby jeezus. I was being lazy. *Notes to self*
Well, this might as well be a "hellbient, you fµcked ____ up" thread. So keep 'em comin'.
Yesterday, somebody said, "I call shenanigans on that," meaning that it was codswallop. And I said, "I thought shenanigans were more like hijinks than codswallop." And then we got sidetracked, so, hey, what do y'all think? Extra points for zany and wacky shenanigans.
Also, when I saw the man in the coffee beans it was startling. At first I thought there was a man illustration in the way the coffee beans were laid out. And then I looked at the whole picture instead of focusing on segments and BAM ... plain as day. (It took less than three seconds, though, so clearly I'm smarter and better than the rest of you, according to debunked rumors.)
That's a nice illusion. First she was spinning clockwise and it took me a while until I got her spinning counter-clockwise. To do this, I had to concentrate on the shadow of her moving foot. Now, after a bit of practice, I can make her spin either way pretty much at will.
