Do. Not. Want.

I thought that's what a bunnyfire was for, heating a bunnycauldron full of bunnystew?

*drools*

Oh, sweet mercy, I loooooooove rabbit.

Don't run, bunnies! I usually don't eat meat! You're safe. Usually.

But I do order meat once in a great while, if there's rabbit on the menu. Or duck. I love venison. And lamb.

What I'm saying: the cuter the animal, the more I want to roast it.

My bunny is a Californian - "the second most popular meat-producing breed in the world". It's an ongoing conversation in my house about how tasty he would be.

Rabbit's okay to eat, but if it's on the bone then it's a little too fiddly for me.

@Elsa: Barbecued wild pig. With a vinegar-and-pepper based BBQ sauce. The slow cooking tenderizes Mr. Pig right nicely, too.

My parents used to raise rabbits for food, back in the day. They would tell us kids it was chicken, but I'm sure my older brothers knew better. I don't even know if it's possible to get it in town.

Two blocks away, we have a tiny locally-owned market, with a small case of fruit and veg, some packaged goods, bulk goods and spices, a deli, and a small butcher counter. It's great, but the goods are understandably limited.

Imagine my astonishment to find a whole rabbit in the freezer case. I remarked upon it to the butcher and he said, "Oh, yeah, we usually have a couple."

I warned my strictly vegetarian partner that the day will come when I fricassee a rabbit in our tiny kitchen. Oh, yes, I will.
