Raising Sand - Alison Krauss and Robert Plant Produced by T-Bone Burnett. I know it sounds like a weird combination. It isn't.
Very nice. I dig.

Vo turned me on to it earlier today; I just cannot believe how well their voices mix together. Colour me impressed.

I knew T Bone had done it before we even turned it on (call it a hunch). The man is incapable of making a bad record. As far as I know, he never has.

I love them together. I listened to a song last week. I'm going to get this CD.

Lori, that page is wonderful. I miss NPR; I should tune on the web more often.

The Mark Ronson remix of Bob Dylan's Most Likely You'll Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) is pretty fun! Might upset the purists...

heh. I don't know what's going on with the music on that page, chuckd, but it sounds like an LP being played at 78rpm - like Alvin and the Chipmunks. Is no one else hearing that?

Anyway, I bet it is great; I adore Alison Krauss, and the pairing with Plant is probably brilliant.

Okay, I'm getting the same thing on the NPR page - something wonky on my end, obviously.

taz, it sounds like a software issue; what's your default media player? Are you using firefox?

(there's a torrent, not that you'd stoop to such piracy)

my microphone wasn't working just before my husband left and he was frantically trying to find the problem before leaving and fiddled with some settings, so he must have done something then. It's pretty funny - even my mp3s sound like this now. Wow. I'm trying to see what might have been changed, but he'll be back on Monday in case I can't work it out.

Restart; check again. Possibly uninstall/reinstall your sound card if you're up for it.

Okay! All fine with the restart. Listening to the awesome now.

Awesome! I've been looking forward to hearing this since I heard about it. Intriguing, to be sure, but it sounds pretty good. I Love Alison Krauss, although I only have one and a bit of her albums. I need more but can't afford them at the moment and piracy isn't something I do.

I love T-Bone, and this looks to be a brilliant pairing. Amazon has a video that's pretty good.

taz - I hate to say how many times I've 'fixed' Windows computer issues with a restart. I've trained everyone at work to reboot before calling me.

I agree with your sentiment that T. Bone Burnett is incapable of making a bad record. No matter who he works with, he gets an incredible, haunting sound with his stamp on it. His production sensibility is eerily powerful.

Though I know it is some kind of folk/trad sin to say it, I am not a huge Alison Kraus fan. The otherwordly pure perfection of her voice is gorgeous, but always hits my ear as too pretty, a fine glass filigree of a voice that doesn't blend in any believable way with a music form that is rootsy, heartfelt, rough, and humble. But from what I hear in the samples, this is just what she needed. The balance of the weird wail of Robert Plant with the spooky production style of Burnett gives her voice a context which saves it from being a mere church-solo voice and gives it some depth.

Thanks! I'm SO glad to be able to hear this.

Mr. T Bone, if you're listening, come record me, please
