Casablanca - the radio edit [More:] Running from 1939 to 1952, the Screen Guild Theater was a weekly radio show featuring abridged presentations of many of the big movies of the day. On April 26th, 1943, the movie thus adapted was “Warner Brothers’ exciting story of romance and intrigue in war-time Africa, Casablanca.” Reprising their roles in the picture were Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid:

1. Intro: Lady Esther presents the Screen Guild Players…
2. Act I ‘Play it! I—I got a date with a memory… in Paris.’
3. Intermission A word from our hostess.
4. Act II: ‘the beginning of a beautiful friendship’
5. The End: Thank you, and goodnight.

One more link: Dooley Wilson performing As Time Goes By.
Cool stuff misteraitch, gracias.

See, I've wondered why this sort of thing isn't done more often. For big properties, like Star Wars, you can get children's books that condense the story into about 20 pages.

It would be a horrendous violation of creative rights, I suppose, but as a quasi-guardian of a couple of ADD kids, I've long wanted (say) one-hour presentations of stuff like Titanic.

Awesome! AFJ didn't give this movie such props for nothing. It's the essential American film.

I love the 1-hour radio versions of '40s cinema. The 1-hour "It's a Wonderful Life," with Jimmy Stewart reading his part, is a great radio experience.
