No fantasy football thread? I've been AFM (Away From Metachat) since last week so maybe I missed it.[More:]

So, yeah, my team is doing okay. It scares me. A few years back, I won twelve games in a row, only to lose in the championship. Last year, I won 8 games in a row in the mecha league... only to lose in the championship.

Oh, and I'm winning the pick'em league too. I really feel like I'm peaking too early. Why can't I enjoy my success?!? Gah!
In my work league, I'm the only undefeated team left. This feels odd, because the previous two years (different league) I came in LAST place. Both times.

I'm not quite sure what to do with myself, but I'm sure my luck will end soon. My team isn't the strongest by far, I've just had lucky performances from random players.

I've decided to give up thinking "this will be Curry's week," and would like to thanks Brett Favre for throwing TDs to everyone but Driver.

I finally won in my other league though.

Fuck fucking Romo.

I can't get a handle on the pick 'em at all this year at all. Nothing seems predictable week-to-week so far, except for the evil Cowboys and Patriots.

dano - I know what you mean. Last week: Only 2 or 3 underdogs won. This week, it seems like everyone upset a "better" team, except for those gosh darned Patriots.

I don't think you missed anything, mister, nobody else has the reason to gloat!!! Don't worry you've got plenty of stamina, mike. Enjoy your success.

I've got two #2 teams (including bunnyleague, yep that's me), one mid-pack team (that almost pulled off an upset) and one team that is just a Foot. One foot trying to play pretend football. Bottom feeders.

Is it just me, or are the injuries just crazy this year?

Let's see, who's injured on my team?
Steven Jackson - RB #1 (although was sucking even healthy, partly due to injuries on O-line)
Brandon Jacobs - RB #2 (back this weekend I hope!)
Todd Heap - TE
Marc Bulger - QB (playing injured but sucks, also O-line is hurting)
Plaxico Burress - WR (playing injured but usually does ok)

I hate that I have to raid the FA every week just to cover my injuries - and now bye weeks have started too, making it even harder. I dropped Derrick Ward b/c he was hurt too and there was a chance he wouldn't play this weekend - of course he did play and got a bunch of yards and the TD vulture I picked up instead didn't vulture any TDs.

Sorry, I should shut up now. I'm not even in your league. I could talk about fantasy football all day.

i'm looking forward to not wining a game this year.

My team's success is directly tied to three later round picks - Romo, Peterson, and Jordan. I got the #3 and #5 RBs in the 5th and 9th rounds. They're both outscoring my first round pick. Of course, with Jordan's back injury and Rhodes returning to the lineup after the bye, and Brad Childress stupidly sticking to his guns with his "Chester Taylor is my starter" bullshit, that will probably come to an end. Good thing I picked up Rhodes; thanks to whoever dropped him!

Also, I heart Tony Romo. He is so fun to watch. I was at the Thanksgiving game last year when he threw 5 TDs. He's a phenom. Every week you think, no way he does it AGAIN, and then he does.

Jordan! Jordan is soooo dreamy! My sister likes Joey, eew gross. And I think Donnie is kinda cute but Jordan's the cutest!

Go Jordan!

How is it that the Cowboys, a team I despised my entire life, has become almost *likable*? I mean, that Romo guy is good but also seems humble and nice in interviews...

Someone please tell me he's really a jerk so I can go on hating "America's team".

Word, misskaz. Even TO (*gasp*) has become downright bearable.

The talking heads overmake this comparison, but for once they're pretty much right on: Tony Romo is the new Brett Favre. I'm a Vikings fan, and I like Favre. Hell, watch the highlight of his record-breaking touchdown AT THE METRODOME, and listen to the Vikings fans cheer like they finally won a game. Romo is fun to watch, he looks like he's having fun, and, yes, he has made the Cowboys not only must-watch, but even likable.

Will wonders never cease?

There's nothing wrong with hating the Cowboys. Shit, they could replace Romo with Gandhi and TO with Mother Theresa and I'd still hate 'em. Hire Hannah Arendt to take Wade Phillips' place and substitute Francis of Assissi for Jerry Jones; do your worst, they'll always be a buncha pricks.

That said, New York should be real glad the Cowboys are around; they keep America from realizing what a bunch of fuckers the Giants are. A real pernicious threat to our way of life, those reprehensible shits are; BOO!!!

It's not enough that Romo ruined my undefeated season, kaz? You care so little about me?

Ok, then, how about this?

I actually won in our league, despite getting no touchdowns from any player other than my QB. Looks like picking up Derek Anderson was a good move on my part. : )

Amazingly enough, I went 3-1 in my leagues this week. Undefeated in one league, middle of the pack in two more and toward the bottom in the fourth.

Kaz, feel free to talk about your fantasy team in our fantasy threads. I like talking fantasy in general too!

On my other league, I benched Dallas Clark thinking that Denver was going to make him useless (and he was supposedly injured). That was a mistake, but fortunately, I still won as my opponent pretty much didn't score.

I thought I was doing pretty good at Pick 'Em considering I know NOTHING about football. However, I was still managing to make good picks...up until last weekend. I'm glad yahoo is doing drop scores. LOL.

Hey, remember when Favre was addicted to painkillers? Good times.

Hey, remember when Favre was addicted to painkillers? Good times.

If he keeps throwing the touchdowns, he can be addicted to puppy blood, for all I care.

Ok, for you dano, I'll hate him. For you.
