I like hot dogs, but that's kinda stomach-turning.
posted by BoringPostcards 02 October | 13:20
It would be better if it was a hot dog coated in tater tots.

Can I have this in a burrito? Thx.
posted by mullacc 02 October | 13:32
I want to dip it in ketchup. YUM!

You know what sounds yum to me? Pizza with a side of fries. Pizza places should sell french fries.

OMG yes, mullacc! Refried beans, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, cheese and the french-fry-covered hotdog, all rolled into a burrito!
posted by essexjan 02 October | 13:40
Pizza places should also serve raw oysters and gin drinks.

This was the default meal served to students in schools I attended from about 6th grade all the way through high school. At first it was a slice of awful cafeteria pizza with a side of fries, but then they started bringing in pizza from a local pizzeria (but kept the mediocre cafeteria fries). I assume by now they've moved to Pizza Hut or Dominos (unless they've succumbed to more recent demands for more healthy student lunches).

Can you bring me one of these in your suitcase, Jan?

I wish I could, TPS, but they're from Korea.
posted by essexjan 02 October | 13:57
Bah. Oh well. I found a NYC restaurant that does fried everything, so I'll survive.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 October | 14:03
Oh yeah, I could definitely eat that.

do not want... NEED!

mullacc, my high school did the same thing. How could I forget! I might be craving junk food from my teenage years. Although, most of the time I was a salad bar person. I even brought my own fat-free dressing from home in a film canister. Ah, where has my discipline (or craziness) gone?

The thing about fair food is that it always looks better than it is. Except maybe for the strawberry shortcake at the Plant City Fair. That's good eating.

Ya' know -- I have never had a corn dog. But, this ... I could have.

That potato-dog looks like it's the only thing missing from the Taco Town Pizza Crepe Taco Pancake Chili Bag (which I personally documented here).

Pizza and fries? If you're in Southern California or the Phillipines, try Shakey's Pizza Parlors and get a side order of Mojo Potatoes, battered with the same stuff they use on their fried chicken. It was my first exposure to coated fries way back in the '70s... (and I just discovered that some locations are offering a "Mojo Supreme" pile of potatoes covered with cheese and chili... my search for the Ultimate Chili Fries may be over!!!) And Shakey's was also a pioneer in putting pineapple on pizza, for which many hate them but I love them.

Hugh, they make tater-dogs here too.

I loves me some corndogs, but that thing just looks too unwieldy to eat. Plus, not all that appetizing.

Did someone say "fair food"? I give you deep fried nirvana.

TPS, Korea.

One weekend while visiting "The Big City" (we live on a small island but go to Seoul and Busan often to get away) my husband and I vowed to subsist the entire weekend on street food. It was heaven.

Luckily for us, lots of Korean street food includes fresh fruit, smoothies, ice cold beer, cheap but fantastic frozen coffees, pancake/egg thingys, hotdogs on sticks wrapped in every incarnation of the potato you can imagine, and oodles of noodles.

The food will definitely be the thing I miss most once we move back to the states.
posted by Brittanie 02 October | 21:09
Once when I was in the States I came across a place that sold pizza with french fries on it. I think they had a burger & fries pizza, too. Couldn't bring myself to order it, though I do love me some greasy salty food.

EJ, you have taken the OMG photo post to new levels. Bless you, brave warrior. Although of course no-one could ever wrest the envy/vague nausea-inducing food crown from the eternal champeen, jonmc.

There's a kosher Chinese place in NYC that has eggroll-skin hotdogs.

Y'all shouldn't post stuff like this unless you're prepared to serve it up to us bunnies.

Another thing — pizza in Korea is covered in weird toppings like sweet potato (almost always rendered into Engrish as "sweaty potato"), corn, something called "potato mousse", coconut flakes, and this sweet sour cream sauce that sorta tastes like vanilla yogurt.
