The Bad Plus's cover of "Tom Sawyer." I never liked jazz all that much before, but man, this blows me away. They removed all of the Geddy Lee and replaced it with instrumental awesomeness.

Mmm, my roomate and I used to listen to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and other Hawiian/Polynesian artists every morning my freshman year of college. That stuff really starts the day out right.

Right this minute, it's a Fresca I brought from home to drink slowly as I catch up on morning business.

Song-wise, I'm still pretty obsessed with the Eight Minutes' 'I Can't Get No Higher,' though I'm also into 'Immediate Impound Zone,' one of the few songs recorded by Infamous Menagerie.

Also, some guy asked me if he could park his bus in the library parking lot for a few hours, and for some reason I find that question very amusing.

The fog has been burning off in the mornings in an odd way that makes the sky look deeply blue. That makes me happy.

As did listening to a podcast on Jungian analysis this morning, most of which was the guy reading a fairytale. I like fairytales.

Oh! And the hip-hoppy version of "She's Like the Wind" I heard in the bookstore yesterday.

The thing that's making me happy this whole *week* is my new really really short hair. I went in Tuesday and got it all chopped off to around an inch long, and now my head feels so cool and light! I keep putting my hands up and running them over my lovely short short hair and grinning like a fool.

I really like almost all the songs on Wooden Wands' Myspace page, but dogpaddlin' is the best of them, I think.

Here is a better version, live off the radio, with The Vanishing Voice as the band. It's slower and weirder.
