This is a post where I ask for recommendations for childrens mystery movies. Already covered: For the Love of Benji, Scooby Doo, Spy Kids, Harriet the Spy, The Great Mouse Detective.

Depending on the kid, it might be a little too spooky, but I really loved The Watcher in the Woods (with the late, great Bette Davis).

The Secret of NIMH is very good. The Secret Garden is fantastic and enchanting, although I would say it's more about mysteries and secrets than about an actual mystery that needs to be solved.

How about Time Bandits? It's not a mystery, exactly, but it felt like one to me when I first saw it. Plus, it's fantastic.

Wishbone did a bunch of mysteries. I'm pretty sure he was even Sherlock Holmes once.

Thanks, everybody! Summer Reading Club is mystery-themed this year, and I've got to pick some movies to show, and I'll be dead in the cold, cold ground before I sit through five or six hours of Spy Kids.

Oh, atomeyes. That is a favorite of mine. Haven't thought of it in years. Thanks for the memory!

Escape from Witch Mountain (if memory serves, it's a mystery. Really old though.)
Spirited Away (may be a bit much for kids, hard to say)
