Some mod goodness for you →[More:]The late 80s was a difficult time for you if you grew up in the NYC suburbs, weren't yet of ago and didn't like metal. Punk was over, hardcore was inaccessible, new wave had dissolved into something insipid and gross, and "alternative" rock was still waiting for me when I got to college.
So, I got hooked on making the trek into Greenwich Village every Saturday, and buying old used 33s at one of the record stores in the Village of early Beatles, Kinks, Who, Stones, Yardbirds, Sid Barrett era Pink Floyd, John Mayall, Humble Pie, etc. For whatever reason, a band I never discovered (they never really made it in the states), was
the Small Faces.
I of course had heard of them, but I never bothered to check them out until I was buzzing around (literally and figuratively) on iTunes about a month or so ago. I bought the anthology/collection "The Immediate Years", and have not been able to stop listening to it since. It's pretty incredible.
