Olbermann hits another one out of the park. I rarely watch MSNBC, but when ever I see links to his well-structured jeremiads, it's hard to resist the temptation to listen.
To be fair, this isn't really about Giuliani so much as it's about the GOP as it's rolled over for the neocons, but point taken. I don't care for G. any more than I do "Well, torture is OK, I guess, as long as it's not the North Vietnamese doing it" McCain.
I like Olbermann, and Giuliani's move was really dumb -- it reeked of desperation. the fundies will never vote for him anyway, he had the chance to build a decent campaign (centered on security, of course, because as ex NYC mayor he has unlimited political hay to make out of those 3,000 WTC corpses), but he's blown that chance, he's just ranting.
and you just wait until the God-fetus-guns GOP base hears about his views on anything besides OMFGTERRAR
Yeah, it's strange that he'd play this card so early, not to mention the fact that it seems to not be nearly as popular as it used to be. I'm in the middle of this Salon article that's basically saying the same thing.
McCain seems like he's just sitting back, letting Rudy commit suicide.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the GOP will somehow convince Jeb to throw his hat in the ring during the early part of next year (after the current crop of clowns have imploded). I still remember Thompson from Red October, looked good in a uniform. I wonder if they'll trot out the stills from the film when his campaign gears up.
On the Democratic side, the money is still with Hillary. Obama's great on the stump, but a little lacking in the debating department, needs a bit more seasoning.
I am still hoping that Gore has a change of heart, so that then we can see the fight everyone secretly wants to see: Bush v Gore II, the Grudge Match.
