Mixsion Impossible, dead in the water or can it make it to port?
I had no idea this existed! I want to help it to port! Can I bail?

The reason it's lost at see is because Eideteker got busy. But hell, we don't need him!

Someone propose a theme and a deadline. This Friday?

"Lost at see"? Shit.

You should have seen me frantically hitting the "back" button right after I hit "post." It didn't work.

Friday is bad because it conflicts with Photo Friday. It was on Thursday. So we could go either next Thursday the 26th or say Tuesday the 24th.

I'm afraid I won't be able to participate except in the appreciation sense as my music is tied up in moving hell (my motives for bringing this up may not have been totally altruistic) so I won't propose a theme.

I was way into it, but the last couple of themes weren't really my bag. If we say, Thurs the 26th, I could jump back in.

I've been listening to this a lot lately, and I really like it. Fits my middle of the night writing regimen. So I'll suggest a similar theme. How about: "Music for 2AM"?

I'd suggest keeping it Thursday, just for consistency.

I'm glad people cared about it! Did we ever actually do the "toothachingly sweet pop" one? Because that's next on my list.

I forgot that it was a Thursday thing. Wasn't suggesting that it be changed.

I don't have any 2AM music or toothachingly sweet pop, so I might sit out until next time.

can someone talk me through the technology of making a zip file of a 70 minute mix?
posted by crush-onastick 18 April | 08:05
On a mac, it's easy. Put everything in a directory, option click & select "Create Archive".

With a PC, I think you have to use something like WinZip, but the principle is the same.

Install 7z (Its free, WinZip isn't, and IMO better than WinZip).
Select the files you want in your zip in Windows explorer.
Right click the selection, Select 7-Zip -> Add to Archive...
Change the archive format to Zip.
Give the archive a name.
Click OK.

Doesn't XP have zip-compatible compression built in?

Yes (from the "intro and instructions" post, as linked on the wiki).

It does but it kind of blows. And the much better free tool is easy to use and widely available.
