mudpuppie I planted your scarlet runner beans!
They came today and it was perfect timing! I got off work a little early and it was still daylight! I planted 4 of them and held 2 in reserve in case of disaster! They will share the trellis with Tracheospermum jasmin and some Ipomoea! Our Calypte anna better appreciate this!

Yay! And I only mailed them yesterday!

But if they're sharing space with a morning glory, I fear for their survival. :(

Your Anna's will no doubt enjoy the blossoms, but I can do you one better -- my scrub jay takes peanuts from the palm of my hand. So there!

The trellis is near a fence mudpuppie! The morning glories will be gently rerouted to the wood fence if they mess with my Phaseolus mudpuppiea! The fence has lots of crevices so they will probably grow on it!

I have never had a scrub jay take anything out of my hand, but I have had one fly down and take bacon out of the pan I was frying it in. That was annoying.

The trick is to not keep your scrub jays in the kitchen!

(Also, are you sure it wasn't a Steller's Jay. Were you camping? They're the bane of many campers' existence.)

I grow scarlet runner beans every year.

It may have been a Steller's jay! I was camping. It was blue.

I am really not that interested in eating scarlet runner beans. They are very pretty beans though so I might dry some and fill a jar with them.
