Chris Rock is one of my great loves.

I like Chris Rock too, but I will probably wait for the DVD release on this one. I just saw this preview at the theater, and some of his jokes come off flat. His acting can sound like a stand-up routine. The co-writer of the I Think I Love my Wife is hilarious, if a bit raunchy. His series Lucky Louie on HBO is strangely compelling.

Tonight I saw Black Snake Moan. I can say that the acting was great and the story was weirdly entertaining.

I enjoy immensely the idea that Chris Rock is doing a sort of remake of Rohmer's painfully boring, and that is an understatement, movie. I would rather endure acupuncture with real nails than watching any of his movies again. Sadly, I did when I was younger, but thankfully I hated them then too.

I find Chris Rock very likeable. He delivers his stand-up as if he is sort of reciting. And this is exactly what I love in him. As if he himself is "reading" a joke, he happens to find funny.

All that said, I doubt I will see the movie in the theater. Not while this one is out and around. Finally. Respect.

Chris is at his best doing stand up. Movies? Not so much.

I'm going to try to catch Black Snake Moan, I'm a Christina Ricci fan and I heard she turns in quite a performance in this one. Loved her in Monster.

carmina, go at your own risk. :) The acting is fabulous, but some scenes were a ridiculous. Overall it was worth it.
