Weekend plans roundup! [More:]We are having a reasonably quiet weekend. Both for saving money and having to work reasons. Meeting for drinks tonight, and then home to watch season 3 of Jeeves and Wooster which we have at the moment from netflix. Working tomorrow, him at work and me at home on a grant, and will try to get out for a run, as it looks like it's going to be fine. 30th birthday party at a friend's place tomorrow evening. Sunday is more work, and maybe hit a museum or something. Also Sunday is the "do all the cooking for the upcoming week" day.
Tonight will probably be a quiet night in. Saturday I need to get the holes on my new bowling ball drilled, plus buy some larger needles for a shawl-cowl-scarf thing I want to knit. On Sunday I have league practice and then I think I'll rent the romantic dancing movie marathon I suggested here while I do laundry. My boyfriend will probably fuss a bunch, then watch it anyway because he's lazy! :)

Tonight, going to see King Lear with Kevin Kline with a friend. Tomorrow, sleeping in, gym probably, and a concert in the evening. Sunday morning is church, and then probably laying around to watch TV. At some point, I really really really need to clean my house.

Catch Blood Diamond tomorrow, finish writing a few mails to some friends, check up on the thread I just posted (thanks for all the advice guys!), and brush up on some of the course work that they’re teaching us in training.

I can't quite figure out how to explain what I was planning to do without incriminating myself, but anyway those plans have quite possibly fallen through. Drat. Sometimes reality needs serious alteration. So, failing that, I'm going to do my taxes and watch a lot of weird movies and maybe go for a hike. No going out. No drinking. No people except "family." Feels right for me right now.

Tonight, movie watching at home. We have Mon Oncle and Stranger than Fiction.

Tomorrow I am weeding and planting impatiens and plumbago, and refreshing some soil I have in a raised vegetable garden. Saturday night I may go to a movie with my sister. Sunday will probably be spent visiting my parents. We've been wanting to do this boat taxi thing up the Intercoastal Waterway. If the weather is nice, I will suggest it.

The husband has odd work hours. He works three days a week, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We don't go out a lot on the weekends. Monday is our Saturday.

Tonight, I'm watching Mayonaka no Yaji-san Kita-san and Shimotsuma monogatari with some pals (J-pop motorcycle movies, or something--I didn't pick 'em. Next time I get to choose, it'll be Marjoe and Jesus Camp).

Tomorrow, I hope to go to the park, do some minor gardening, read some Sam Harris, attempt a mole sauce and sit on the porch drinking beer.

Sunday, I'll go to work, then probably have dinner and watch a couple episodes of The Wire with my pal Margo (she only recently became a fan, and is currently zipping through the second season.)

Working. And sleeping. And unpacking. And sleeping. And working. And maybe some more working.

At least the working is to be done from home. I would love to plan the next few days such that I did not have to leave the house, or change out of my pajamas, except perhaps to go to the gym, which I miss. Except I think ikkyu committed us to a MeFi meet-up tomorrow.

Perhaps I can go to *that* in my pajamas...

I'm staying in, for good reasons (we're having a snowstorm!) and not-so-good (I'm still recovering from being struck by a car a couple of weeks ago) and cooking. We have a full fridge and larder, a pile of library books,a stack of wildly varying DVDs to watch, and a newly repaired laptop to play with, so I'm happy.

Tonight, I think I'm making a four-cheese pasta gratin with mushrooms, broccoli, and kale, served with roasted butternut squash and a thick piece of oatmeal bread. And we have leftover gingerbread! Cozy and comforting --- good snowday food.

Tonight: most likely hanging around altering my reality and watching movies/playing video games. Maybe at my house, maybe at someone else's. Tomorrow: lunch with my grandma and girl's night with my friend in DC. Sunday: cleaning my house. It's got to be done.

The partner is going out of town tomorrow for a family event, so I may come into work tomorrow (or, if it's as gorgeous tomorrow as it is today, not. :)

Sunday I'm going to see Zodiac and hopefully get another betta for the little fish tank in our dining room.

Assembling furniture and doing catch-up coding. I feel like going out, but can't really spare the time. Will just have to drink around the house and turn the music up.

It was supposed to be:
going to panels and readings
eating soul food
hanging out with writer friends
buying small-press books
sleeping in a real bed in a quiet room

Now it's:
getting acupuncture at 6 tonight
sleeping on the floor in one of the noisiest corners of NYC
straightening up the parts of my place that look like the Collyer brothers'
maybe going to see the midnight show of Conan the Barbarian at the Sunshine

Sharpen machete, find lost City of Gold, recover from poison centipede bites, listen to Nina Simone.

Eat pho.
Go to 99 Ranch and buy some not-chicken.
Make dinner (mmmnot-chicken and potatoes).

And then I don't know what happens after that, but it's a very very good bet that catching up on Battlestar (with or without a drinking game), watching some more Angel, and playing Warcraft will be involved.

Also, the sexing.

Oh, I just remembered a bunch of stuff I planned to do but might not get done: donate blood, visit this old cemetary I saw while I was lost the other day, do my taxes, straighten up the living room.

Tonight, muscling a deadbeat sublettor out of an out-of-town friend's East Village pad; tomorrow, watering plants for said out-of-town friend and maybe getting a Chinatown foot massage before going to a big gay birthday party; Sunday, Torah study, ironing, and 2 Live Crew.

That oughtta raise an eyebrow or two.

I'm on spring break starting tomorrow!
I am not going anywhere/doing anything for spring break because I'm lame like that.
Oh wait, there's a take-home exam, guess I'll be doing that then.

All my plans for the weekend will change tomorrow when I win 267 million dollars, so I'm keeping things pretty open.

Except the 2 Live Crew part.
posted by Hellbient 02 March | 15:08
You too? I got my ticket right here.
posted by Hugh Janus 02 March | 15:16
Shut up, *I* will be winning that 267 million!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 March | 15:28
When I win, I'll buy you a pony if you want.
posted by Hugh Janus 02 March | 15:30
Ooooo ok!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 02 March | 15:33
I'll buy you both ponies, SOLID GOLD PONIES.
posted by Divine_Wino 02 March | 15:35
You mean ponies made of gold, or ponies under swirling light, dancing to the top hits of the seventies?
posted by Hugh Janus 02 March | 15:38
i think they dressed as ponies once.
The retail cost of a couple ponies would be a real help, thanks.

You mean ponies made of gold, or ponies under swirling light, dancing to the top hits of the seventies?

You know when Jabba froze Han Solo in carbonite? Like that but with ponies and gold, forever frozen in the right 24 k, eyes bulging with uncomprehending terror.

When I win the big bucks I plan to go instantly and totally mad, you see.

So get ready to enjoy your Solid Gold Ponies who have died of fright on the way to the pony sized tank of molten gold.

I haven't worked out all the details, as you can probably tell, but start whatever floor reinforcing operations you are going to need right away, those cocksuckers are going to be seriously heavy.
posted by Divine_Wino 02 March | 15:48
I don't think you guys understand, I need that money.
Don't ask.
posted by Hellbient 02 March | 15:51
DW - they're cocksucking gold ponies? Now I kinda hope you do win.
Gives the phrase "pony up" a whole new meaning.
posted by Hellbient 02 March | 15:53
i don't need a cocksucking pony unless it's a cocksucking pony that has a house it will let me live in without me having to play cocksucking pony games.
posted by ethylene 02 March | 16:03
As long as the house had a Pretty Parlor I'd be down.

Gotta drive up to Portland in this slushy slop for a regional meeting of Slow Food peeps. I love Portland, but it's just up and back for the meeting, no hangout time.

Sunday, shopping.
posted by Miko 02 March | 16:09
Great. Let's start the boarding house right quick.
i'll do the cooking and household duties and such. It won't be no Ma Wilks but i'll try, dammit.
Hitch your ponies out back.
posted by ethylene 02 March | 16:11
A cocksucking pony? Have you seen the teeth on a pony? There's no way that a pony's mouth would ever get remotely close enough for that to happen. I'd take it from behind, instead!

Anyway: weekend plans: pop into work to finish my accessible link checking tool that I'm writing, watch Fried Green Tomatoes..., eat good food, get drunk, play with Skype, find local stables...

Miko, is it Oyster Night? Or was that last month? I was just out sloshing and sliding around the West End, and I hail you for your dedication, coming up tonight.

Maybe another time, we could meet for coffee. Teeny tiny meetup...

Tonight, birthday dinner for my mom. I made dessert, which was a slight challenge since my dad's diabetic.

Tomorrow night I've been invited to a party at Prospero's place!

Sunday: laundry, taxes, possibly some outlet shopping.

Tomorrow: Work at my part-time job. Sunday: Work at home for my full-time job.

It's already Saturday morning here (half-past midnight). So it'll be a lie-in, followed by Liverpool v Man Utd live on TV which has, I believe, a 12.45pm kick-off. Then a quick trip to the supermarket, and in the evening an AA meeting where I'll pick up my 8-year chip.

Sunday will be a quiet day, catching up with housework, laundry and watching TV. Oh, and doing the work I should've done on Friday.

Yay for Liverpool, Jan. You neeeever waaaalk aaaaloooone!
(Liverpool has always been my favorite non-greek, club team; since my dad's years).

Ink. If I don't get this book inked by the end of the Month I am truly screwed on my publishing timetable. Other than that activity, I'm sure I'll eat, sleep, etc. and I have band practice during the day on Sunday which is a bit different for me (usually Sunday nights).

I'm visiting my parents. My mom's stockpiled a crap ton of orange juice in the fridge since she remembered how much I like it. My contribution: vodka.

It's going to be a screwdriver weekend for me.
posted by DaShiv 03 March | 23:07
Who wrecks perfectly good vodka by fruiting it up with orange juice?
posted by Eideteker 04 March | 03:36
Perfectly good vodka? Some of us buy the cheap stuff for mixing, and as topical treatment for cuts and scrapes.

I hear that a sure sign of alcoholism is the ability to drink cheap vodka straight from the bottle. Nasty.

I had no particular plans, which is a good thing since I spent the last four days on the couch with the flu.

This morning (Monday) is the first day I've felt mostly human (so far), though I did have one 20-minute spurt of energy on Sunday in which I cleaned the kitchen before retreating back to my quilt, my book, my ginger tea and blizzard of tissues.
