I had my first 500 point Scrabble game this weekend! →[More:]
I'll freely admit I got lucky to have a perfect board for two bingoes (CABINET and GLADDEST), the second of which spanned two Triple Word Scores (for 149 points). It was my girlfriend's first time playing Scrabble, and I scored 503 points against her. I was excited but felt a little bad.

500 POINTS! Holy shit, I think my best up till then was in the 420s.

When I first read this I thought "dear oh dear, how lame is that, boasting about a Scrabble score".

Until I remembered doing exactly the same about my record Bookworm score of over 13 million before you very people.

All fans of Scrabble should try Seattle Shuffle, which is much more fast-paced and fun. It is played with cards rather than wooden tiles, and the key difference is that you can make entirely new words with the plays already on the board, rather than merely building off of prior words. Plus, it's a deck of cards, so it's portable, and is also less susceptible to disruption by curious cats who want to help play.

Unfortunately, it's out of print, but can apparently still be bought here (scroll down). If you like scrabble, take the $16 chance and try Seattle Shuffle.

Once my sister let me spell "Nigeria" because it was the first time ever I had a chance to use all my letters at once. I then let her spell "Bowie" because he's just hot:
