I've never seen a raccoon in real life. I think they're very cute.

Cute, suuuuure. Until you've accidentally trapped one in your kitchen while stark naked and freshly jolted out of sleep at 4 am. Then they're hissing, claw-brandishing works of satan. I still get flashbacks. *shudders*

Oh my god, I'm laughing like an idiot! They DO have those little freaky hands (see also: sugar glider hands) and the visual of elizard in her starkers confronted by a raccoon...

Raccoons are very cute and very mischievous, they can open rubbish bins with their hands, strewing rubbish everywhere.

At the museum at which I used to work, Rubbermaid would come around and test their bin designs on our captive raccoons. It was hilarious.
